Blown turbos. . .

. . . or are they?

I have just stripped down the turbos from my blown engine. (When I say 'stripped down' I mean unbolted them from the cast iron turbine outlet manifold thing, not actually stripped the turbos themselves.)

I was expecting to see damaged blades on the hot side but actually the turbine wheels look to be in perfect condition. Same with the impeller blades on the compressor side.

Does this mean they probably didn't need changing?

It would be an unexpected bonus if it meant I had a spare set of 36,000 miles turbos. I might even stick 'em on my smokey old RZ if you guys think they're probably ok.

I think oil weapage would be difficult to diagnose because every single internal part was drenched in oil from when the engine went pop. The intake was full of oil, the intercooler was full of oil, the IC piping, the exhaust, you get the idea.
