Eddie-S
When I bought my car the previous owner told me that the bonnet was a rare Toyota carbon fibre one. I didn't think much about it and didn't know anything about Supra's at the time (probably not much more now either!) The only ones I've seen mentioned on here are the aftermarket ones like Seibon. So,my question is did Toyota do a carbon fibre or plastic bonnet? As mine certainly isn't metal and has all the fixings/stickers/insulation that you would expect to find on an OEM bonnet
Dnk
All the o/e bonnets are aluminium as far as i'm aware

listy
Not that i no off mate never heard of one ? Mite be a one of a king Same here. I would think maybe someone made a fibreglass mould from an oem bonnet to lose some weight? Never heard of one being available from toyota though. Eddie-S
It doesn't look/feel like fibreglass and feels more plasticky (is that a word!) than Carbon(y) and is certainly well finished

Dnk
Take a decent photo of the underside with the sound proofing out the way The stock aluminium bonnet weighs bugger all
MattP
my old Top Secret carbon fibre bonnet in my opinion there was very little if any difference in weight between it and my standard J-spec bonnet as opposed to my standard mr2 bonnet which weighs a tonne literally
Alex
It was never an option - it's aftermarket. Assuming its the car in your "garage" on here then A) it looks stock B) if it's not it will be evident from a picture of the underside.
Eddie-S
I'll take some pics. No I've never removed it and not that bothered how much it weighs
Eddie-S
I took a couple of picture today, but didn't want to move the sound proofing too much as I didn't trust myself not to damage it but they aren't that good. It still doesn't feel or sound like metal though...
