Supra Ems
Hi, I'm sure this is on the site somewhere but am having trouble finding it! Is a step by step guide to changing my rear discs available? Have done it on other cars before but not sure how easy it is on the Supra. Mine has the bigger brake set-up if that makes any difference. Grateful for any help. Thanks!
Dnk
Read from page BR-45 Take the wheel off, ease the pads apart in the caliper, undo the 2 bolts that hold the caliper to the hub then slide the caliper off the disc and cable tie it out the way. Slacken off the handbrake adjuster and remove the bolts that locate the disc to the hub then wriggle the disc off.BR.pdf Edited February 4, 2013 by Dnk (see edit history)
scott87
Undo the small nut on the caliper, slide the arm up and remove the pads. Tie the slide calliper section up, then unbolt the calliper mount and remove. Then the disk is free to be removed, just make sure you dont have the handbrake on. Ive always managed to gently tap the disk off but through the small hole there is an adjuster for the hub brake to release them from the disk if you struggle. Or Follow that guide i couldn't find! Supra Ems
Hmmm my ability to read has been greatly affected by something today, my bad! That's ok because my ability to ask the right question is also impaired! I actually meant the front discs! Think it makes sense from those diagrams though... Thanks for your help, lads! Dnk
lmao Fronts are dead easy as there's no handbrake to worry about. Wheel off, ease pads apart in caliper, undo the 2 caliper mounting bolts and cable tie it out the way undo the securing bolt/s holding the disc to the hub remove disc make sure the new discs mating faces are clean same goes for the hub brake cleaner from Halfords in a spray tin is very useful to wipe over the parts before assembly. Oh and check the discs as they are handed Left and Right due to the way the ventilated veins run. There is an L and an R cast into the o/e discs. The discs could have delivery rustproof/grease on them so remove with brake cleaner, DO NOT USE WD40 !!!! Re fit caliper and do up the bolts properly, same goes for the wheel nuts Edited February 6, 2013 by Dnk (see edit history)
