Remote central locking will lock, but not unlock

I'm sure I had this issue once before, but I'm damned if I can remember what the outcome was.

The car will lock and arm the Clifford 600 fine. The remote will disarm the alarm, but not unlock the car. I have to use the key.

The button inside the car will lock, but will not unlock.

There is a sound like a relay triggering near the alarm installation, but no sounds from the locks.

I've connected the CliffNet Wizard up and used the I/O tests and that does the same thing. Locks the car, but will not unlock.

The battery doesn't seem particularly low as it cranks over ok.

Any ideas?

I'm going to strip the door down and check out the door switch at the weekend to check for water ingress.

If that doesn't help then I'll also try replacing the alarm battery as that stop chirping years ago and possibly disconnecting power to drain settings.

I have a red central locking unit you can try if you get stuck mate.

Cheers James. Is that the box on the passenger side somewhere?

I've stripped the door down, it looked like it had been damp behind there but seemed dry now. Took the switch apart and managed to trigger the doors to lock/unlock by pushing 12V to the right wire. I'm not sure what that proves? This opens/closes both doors locks so possibly not the relay?

Should the Supra unlock both doors when using only the key or just the door you're using the key with? Mine only unlocks the one door.

As for the alarm, I've stripped the siren and replaced the battery with a home made copy as it stopped chirping years ago. At least that works now.

I couldn't see how to factory reset it using Cliffnet Wizard software, I wonder if this can be done by key fob commands...

It's too bloomin' cold outside now, tomorrow I'll try to figure out where the alarm is spliced into the door locks tomorrow and maybe temporarily remove that to rule out the alarm causing this.

I knew there was a good reason I uploaded all these files: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/forumdisplay.php?118-Electrical-ICE-and-Interior

The doorlocks one:

All doors can be locked or unlocked simultaneously using either front door. Turning driver’s side door lock switch once will unlock driver’s side door only, twice will unlock all doors. Door locks can be controlled by switches on driver’s side or passenger’s side doors within vehicle, or by operating each door lock with key or lock knob. Front door(s) cannot be manually locked when key is in the ignition switch.

Got the same problem today, with my Toad Alarm.

For some reason it will not lock doors using the Toad Keyfob, but it will unlock them after I lock the car manually with key. No idea why this has just cropped up!

Any advice?

Possibly central locking control box.

Mine was doing this over winter, but now the weather has vastly improved, its sorted its life out.

If you need one, Marco79 has one for sale, as he was holding it for me, but I no longer need it ;)

Mines doing the same today, I seem to remember it did the same last winter too

The toad alarm I'm sure is outputting correctly and the drivers door lock/unlock switch will only unlock as does the road alarm

But I have to lock it manually

Must be the central locking module is damp/playing up again lol

When you have the damned thing out give it the test I use on Lucas electronics. Find a deep pond or lake. Toss the thing in. If it floats retrieve and smash it. It if it doesn't walk away. And no, I didn't subject it to 5kW of RF, much as I was tempted.

:)

BTW, Jane's dad died on Friday, ten minutes after I walked into the room. Never get me to visit if you are ever really poorly.... It's becoming a worrying trait that I seem to have :) Speak soon.
