Hi all,

Thought it was about time I started tracking some of my progress with the car and let you guys in on what I've been up to.

As many of you are now aware, I've been long planning on converting my NA Auto Aerotop into something a little more special, but my issue was, which way to go with it? This is how the car looked upon picking it up back in August 2011.

It's a '93, which was imported in 2001 by a lady called Dawn and her husband. They owned the car through to 2010 and in that time had spent ££££s maintaining it to the highest standards with a huge folder of receipts to back up.

After a thorough clean and some TLC, I was left with this, a completely stock NA Aero, with which I was over the moon!

I decided to learn more about the traits and behaviour of my car by putting it around Curborough Sprint circuit back in November 2011,

Followed by a dyno run at Dynodaze in Hinckley to assess what state the engine was in, it made a healthy 202bhp.

I also entered a Santa pod RWYB day in Jan 2012 as a bit of fun and to gauge how it faired against more modern hot hatches.

I had never been a fan of the OEM 16"s and so I knew they must go. I traded up to some OEM17"s to retain the stock look.

I decided that the grey carpet, grey headlining and sunvisors were looking rather dated and so set about 'face lifting' them. I used 'Valeter's Pride black carpet dye' from eBay and much improved my car's interior!

My JSpec headlights, (which were amazingly not yellowed!) still needed some attention and I had longed for some facelift items, however, due to cost, I decided to have a go at Refurbing mine with black inserts with great results! I chose not to retain the chrome rings in attempt to darken and modernise the front end of the car.

I then set about making my car sound "as a supra should" and brought a HKS HI Power Silent from a member on here, although I did not heed his warning of it being far too loud for daily use and soon became tired of its droney tone. It did sit rather nicely though!

I replaced the HKS, with a Motoria 3" TRD style exhaust from another member on here and must say it sounds awesome! Only slightly louder than stock during normal driving then screams on WOT.

I finally settled on the wheels I wanted and I brought some Rota Torque Drifts in anthracite as I loved the concave 'spokey' look on a supra!

I run 9.5J ET30 Fronts

235/40/18 FK452

9.5J ET30 Rears

255/35/18 Fk452.

All that I can say is, the tyres are awesome! Far better than the Avon ZZ3's I previously had fitted.

Due to me having some quite substantial surgery, the progress of the car halted at this point and I spent my time researching what I wanted to do with regards to power, with me still not making a decision! At this point, I was open to anything-NA-T/TT/1JZ/V8.

After I had recovered from my surgery, I spent my time enjoying my car and finally got the opportunity to get the roof off!

I know they suffer with flex issues, but wow!

With that exhaust note, the warm air and open roads, I fell in love!

I decided that I really missed the driving experience provided by a manual transmission and so purchased a full W58 conversion from a foreign member of this club, who drove from the Netherlands to meet me at SRD and deliver my new purchase.

The girlfriend very kindly agreed to drive me down to SRD in her 1.0 3 cylinder corsa which majestically carried my Supra's new transmission package home to the midlands!

With the help of my boss, Ric(Rich.2211) and Steve of Silverline Racing, we had the old gearbox, diff, prop, Selector, and tachometer out and the new box, clutch, flywheel, diff and prop on the car within 8 hours! Within the weekend I had a fully functioning manual supra! This was possibly the best decision I had made and increased the enjoyability of driving the car!

I attended the Club day at Dynodaze in November 2012, and finally, my decision was made with regards my route to more power! After a ride in Dunk's TT Auto BPU, and Scott's T70 NA-T, I decided I fancied the challenge of a small single build on my existing GE block. Scott runs a T70, on a T3 flange at 6 PSI with stock compression. This made 375bhp and I agreed that was a sensible figure for me to aim for. I set about immediately finding a suitable turbo and within hours had brought a brand new T3, T70 turbo from an XS power kit. I know they are not the most reliable/best for producing power, but at the price I got it for, I couldn't complain!

I also found some 7MGTE 440cc injectors for a bargain price of £50 delivered and so had them ultrasonically cleaned at work and flow tested.

I spoke to Craig(dr Jekyll) and agreed to swap an emanage blue and an eaton paddle clutch suitable for NA-T for my old auto diff. Craig was a great guy and offered me lots of advice!

I was very happy with my purchases so far!

I made the decision to purchase a second 60k miles engine to turbo, to allow me to future proof my build. This included changing front and rear crank seals, crank pulley, distributor, rotor arm, thermostat, timing belt(+idler and pulley), cam cover gasket, and check the block for wear. It also made the job of drilling my oil return into the sump plate a much easier task!

The engine was being kept in my office which made concentrating at work more difficult than usual!

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1359336935.277727.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1359336974.118421.jpg

I also planned on smartening the engine up a little by painting the block satin black, polishing the cam covers, inlet manifold, y pipe, throttle body, turbo and all of my intercooler Pipework to a mirror finish before dropping them in.

The car is also booked in for a complete respray in Feb 2013 to update the faded, tired old paintwork with fresh Renaissance Red:)
