Servicing - Fan Belt / Cam Belt

Hi guys, I service the Supra myself annually with fresh oil, plugs, oil filter, air filter etc... However I wanted to get an idea at what kind of mileage other items need changing like fan belt, cam belt, gearbox oil, and anything else that is a must.

I have tried searching this on the forum but with no success.

It would be great if anyone can suggest the typical things that need changing outside of the basics listed above and at what kind of mileage they should be changed.

PS - I gather my fan should be on all the time when then engine is running as its pulley driven?

Cheers :D

re the fan belt you can assess it's condition visually, look where it passes the tensioner (or twist the top bit towards you) and you can directly look at the ridged side of the belt. If there are numerous cracks in the ridges ie every few mm then it's time for replacement.

The handbook service schedule is in the atatchement here . To find out what it in the routine A and B services someone will need to scan the handbook and post it. I have done this myself way back, but I can't find it now using the search so I guess its been pruned out.

If you have modded your car you can tear this up though and make up your own schedule.

Cheers for the replies. I checked through all my paperwork and noticed the cam belt was done in 2006 at 64K miles, the car is now on 77K. Can't see that the fan belt has ever been changed so going to visually inspect it at the weekend.

If it needs replacing would you suggest sticking with the OEM Toyota one?

Part of me says yes because it'll do 10's of thousands of miles on the one belt, but I believe it is relatively pricey (a dim and distance memory say possibly 70+?) and so an ebay gates 6PK1938 belt for £21-22 might get my money...
