V
I'm looking at buying a tent. Just for me and my wife with the outlook of a sprog in the future.... maybe. Just looked at our local camping store who have got: Vango and Wynnster. http://www.vango.co.uk/ Diablo 600 http://www.wynnsteroutdoorleisure.com/cambrian.htm are these decent makes and are there others worth looking at? Cheers SV
merckx
Both of them make decent tents, the Wynnster one appears to be a little better after looking at the spec. Like anything, the more you pay the better quality it will be. I wouldn't pay less than £200, anything around £300 should be even better quality. The more expensive ones have stronger stitching, eyelets and better quality zips etc. I've got a Gelert tent which is okay aswell. Nice to have a tent with a largish living area so you've got somewhere to sit if it's raining.
JustGav
Dad-in-law got one off ebay, which we borrowed to go down to the new forest with, and that was cracking, was cheap only 120, but it was a 6 sleeper with a large common area as well... JustGav
The new forest is lovely as well, stayed at a place called Hollands Wood.. while it has no electric, it is absolutely fantastic, showers the lot... including horses who nicked our freshly baked bread the one day... V
Cheers, I seem to be looking at the wrong time of year already!! no one seems to have any on display. I'll keep looking around, but leaning towards the Diablo 600 (at least then i can say i won a Diablo ) Is it worth getting a built-in ground sheet? & do the windows unrip with a ripped fly mesh too? the shops dont seem to have a clue! Cheers
michael
I bought this one for JAE but ended up staying at a mates so it's still in it's box: http://www.cybercheckout.com/edealinv/servlet/ExecMacro?nurl=control/StoreItem.vm&ctl_nbr=918&siId=229431&catLevel=1&scLevel=1&thisCatLevel=0&theActualParent=2954&catParentID=2954&scId=3385 No idea if it's any good but I presume not for the money, the £300 RRP is probably a lie
