Big Supes
Yeah good, the gear changes are phenomenally fast, slightly quicker than a GTR on the up change and quicker on the down change. Last bit to do now is smooth out the low down gear changes. It's quite harsh at the moment. We need to borrow an ISF for a day and do a bit of R&D So if anyone has one would be handy No it's mostly to do with the gearbox, very modern box. Its a long shot, but I will reach out to Toyota if you want. They could be interested in this.

I have two other boxes to hand so will see what the interest is like first. fullthrottle
Lee I think I need to put my name down on one of those boxes for when my car comes to you in march I would imagine it would improve the spool time of my blitz turbos

Lee P
Any more updates on this? Yes coming along nicely We were lucky to have Peter P lend us his stunning ISF to do some testing with. We have now logged all the data we need from the Lexus gearbox ECU and have an updated map from Ryan so will be testing tomorrow. Most of the parts have now been sorted for production so will have confirmed priceing in the next few days
j_jza80
I bet you had fun doing that, the V8 in the ISF sounds lovely
inazone
Excellent can't wait for all the details! This will be top of my wish list. Hopefully the price will be cheaper than Whifbitz's 7 speed offering. [emoji6]

Lee P
Any further news on this? Still spending some time on the drivability side at the moment. Bit slower now that Ryan is in Dubai but I'm doing some more on it next week myself. Pricing should be sorted next week as well so will get a new thread started with all the details
inazone
Hi Lee, are there any further updates?
Lee P
Hi Lee, are there any further updates? With Ryan being away we have had to do a bit of research and spend some time on it ourselves. What we have found out is this box very advanced, there are only three manufactures in the world making 8 speed boxes. The AA80E has been used in a few different Lexus models and also in a Cadillac in the USA. We are now very confident this box will hold some big power, 700ftlbs (900hp) plus should be no problem at all in stock form. It works very differently to a conventional Auto Gearbox which is why we have had issues controlling it correctly on the Syvecs ECU. We have improved it a lot with the time we have spent so far and its starting to drive very nice. The performance side is amazing and the gear changes up and down are lightening fast, it really doesn’t feel like an auto with a TC. We are working to try and add some settings to the Syvecs gearbox strategy so we have more control. The other option which Ryan will be working on soon is to use the stock Lexus gearbox ECU to control the box. This will give us the silky smooth control that we need but still ability to adjust settings. This is the same way the R35 is done. With the work so far we really like the box and once completed will be an awesome conversion for an auto supra.
j_jza80
Interesting So why do you think they decided to stick with an auto box over a DCT? And do you think you'll be able to get the Syvecs launch control working with it?
Lee P
The main reason was probably drivability, the auto will always be smoother. What they seem to have achieved is something between the two. It has the gear changes of a DCT, even more so on the down shift as its quicker but the comfort of an auto. Launch control will always be an issue with a TC but its something we will look at once finished. With the gearing it has though I wont have any problems pulling away fast. Interesting So why do you think they decided to stick with an auto box over a DCT? And do you think you'll be able to get the Syvecs launch control working with it? j_jza80
The Jag F Type I drove was a V6 auto with paddleshifters. It also had a brilliant launch control system on it, so it must be possible. That was also an 8 speed.
Luxluc
That's great news Lee. Well done. I need a second Supra ; this one with this 8 speed box

Lee P
Any more updates on this? Nothing as yet no, car is getting DBW next and Ryan will be working on integrating the stock Lexus gearbox ECU.
