Cosworthmark02
Does anyone know if the Holset HX65 turbo is any good for a single? Or a precision 6776 I,m looking for a reasonable turbo to replace the Chinese thing which I unluckily got with my car. Will be running about 450bhp. Cheers. Alex
450 only. You want something no more that 61mm. Precision T61DBB .68exhaust (ie The 6152RSP listed here - http://www.nolimitmotorsport.com/prod/500-6153) Garrett GTX3576 .63exhaust Garrett GT35R .63exhaust By not going for mad power you should keep the turbo small and incredibly quick to spool. Where these turbo's say they are reated for 600hp etc etc, that's at the edge of their performance envelope, using ultra high boost pressure....so something that will do 600 on race gas with 2.3bar will be ~500 on the street. Alex
The "Holset HX" range appear to all be for Diesel Trucks?! Certainly on the link I just saw. Diesel turbo's do not work on petrol car's as the EGT's are way different. The Precision you mentioned is too big.
Swampy442
HX series turbos are very popular, well regarded turbos. For that power you only need a GT35 framed turbo so an HX35 will be right up your street.
Alex
Okies, not seen them before. I didn't look hard. Still would stick with Garrett.
Wez
A small BW unit would be a cheaper option, something like an S362
Paul Whiffin
Borg Warner S360 assuming you have a T4 flange that is. This is still a bit large for 450bhp though but pretty much the smallest T4 turbo out there.
Dan_Turism0
HX65 is way too big for 450bhp, HX35 would do fine
