Guest renno rannes
Lads can someone help me with this one. My mate has a jap import mk 4 twin turbo Supra. Reg in 1999. There are 2 pots on the front and single pot on the back. First was thinking this was a single turbo with twin turbo engine upgrade. So weve found a set of 4 pot calipers for the front and 2 pot for the back from a breakers. Do you think that as long as its a mk4 the calipers will fit the car even if its a single turbo or twin turbo. Thanks for any help its driveing us mad. carl0s
there was never a single-turbo mk4. The only single turbos out there are those that have been upgraded by replacing the small twins with a large single. Most import cars came with the smaller brakes, hence known as J-Spec brakes. The 4-pot brakes you speak about are UK-Spec brakes. They are an ideal upgrade but will not fit under stock 16" rims, and also quite a few aftermarket rims do not leave enough space either. 17" Stock rims are perfect. Guest renno rannes
Thanks mate. Theres 18-19s on the car so id say there is plenty of room. But you think they would defo fit yeah. Thanks Damien
terawua
the calipers will be a direct fit.. but you will have to cut off the dust guard, and fit larger discs... the ones you are after are 332mm in diameter. Did you get the discs with the calipers, if not see if you can get hold of them as the new discs will be about 90 quid each(!). Also get some goodridge lines while you are at it, and if you dont have pads, speak to Chris Wilson on here as he has a stock of upgraded but not too dusty pads. Thanks Damien Not necessarily - The UK front calipers are much fatter than the Jap - best to try your wheels on a supra with uk brakes if you can. You'll need a shim kit and fitting kit
Guest renno rannes
Ha Ha yeah thats it i wander the country on my harley hunting down bad guys Weve EBC Dimple groove discs and red stuff pads all round. But there for the 4pots and twin on the back. The wheels are huge few inches between caliper and rim but im geting worried about the fiting kit etc. The breakers are in Belfast and where in Dublin but i think its safer to just drive up and be sure. merckx
Sorry what is the shim kit and fiting kit. You might get these with the calipers but I would fit some new ones. Get them from your local Toyota dealer. Shims - thin metal pieces that go between the piston and the pad. Fitting kit - anti rattle piece, wire clip and pins. Here's a pic: Click I would make sure the brakes wil fit first, I've got 18" wheels on the car and I've only got 1.5mm clearance and that's with 4mm spacers fitted!
