Guest deanb
Hi, Somehow some small rocks got into my head from inlet side and bent some of my intake valves. I was hoping for some advice, Motor has 60k miles on it, wondering if I can just replace the intake side with BC or Supertech valves? (and leave exhaust valves stock) or would that be a bad idea? Valves being lighter etc? While the head is off can anyone recommend what I should do? Head gasket is about 10k mile old, same with ARP head studs. Should I be replacing the springs/retainers? Car is 20 years old now! or should that not make a difference to wear? Thanks, Dean
Dnk
I'd get the head off first and inspect it and also look at the cylinders, pistons etc. Is it na or tt ?

Guest deanb
Got the head off, one valve definitely bent but not sure on others yet, was going to take to an engine builder to clean head, install valves etc. Had one builder look at it and told me I will need to do tappets etc its a twin turbo so going to find another shop.. Looking at the Ferrea 6000 valves? Guess I need guides to?
Tricky-Ricky
Your at the least going to have to re shim the the lifters that you replace the valves and guides as a minimum, on the ones that are bent/damaged.
David P
Hi, Somehow some small rocks got into my head from inlet side and bent some of my intake valves. How did 'rocks' get through the turbo(s) without killing them?
Tricky-Ricky
How did 'rocks' get through the turbo(s) without killing them? I didn't want to ask LOL! i am also wondering what sort of shape the pistons and combustion chamber are in if "rocks" went through it. Guest deanb
Okay but should I be looking at springs/retainers aswell? I'm "trying" to budget so would rather not if not necessary I'm looking at going single but nothing crazy (s362).. I'm assuming I can still use my stock lifters? Will reshimming be expensive labour-wise? I'm okay on the tools but seems like a pretty fiddly job, hence why I want an engine builder to do my valves and I'll just put the head back on etc
David P
You need to look at the job before you leap with your wallet.
Guest deanb
Nah they came in past intercooler (pipe to throttle body) so only got stuck in inlet valves
Guest deanb
Just an update, turns out only the one bent valve! Ordered all 12 intake anyway and engine builder said I don't need to replace guides just seals.
