arne
hi guys, question for the racers: Is personal a good brand of steering wheels? What is the best (on a track) 350 or 360mm? What has the most grip: suede or leather? (I've heard suede hurts the hands after a while? yes or no?) kind regards
mellonman
Personal are one of the best steering wheels mate, tom's use them as well as f1 teams in the day
Dnk
I had a suede one and after a little while the suede went hard and shiny where you grip the wheel, looked great when it was new and crap after a few months
pedrosixfour
I have a Sparco suede wheel in my track car and I've never had a problem with it hurting my hands after a lot of use. It hasn't deteriorated like Dunk's either, the suede is still nice and grippy but being a track car it sees an awful lot less palming than a normal road car so it's not really a fair comparison. The one thing I have noticed is that it picks up and holds a fair bit of the grime that goes along with keeping a car checked and tight at a track day, in other words it could do with a serious cleaning! Dnk
In its defense the sales blurb says its meant to used with race gloves and should be cleaned which i didn't. Mine was a Momo

Gaz6002
If you're doing racing properly you'll be wearing gloves. My single-seater has suede and it works perfectly.
