Who has (or is doing) an NA-T on the forum?

What are guys doing with the sensor that runs into the CAT, i am guessing this is a temp sensor? are you removing it and if so what are you doing with the ECU to stop it throwing a fault?

 

Just tuck it up out the way mate. That way, the ecu won't give a fault ;)

It's what most do when decatting.

I did this when de-catting mine, cable tied the sensor up out the way & tucked in behind the sheild that was there, no problems or ECU fauly codes.

On the subject of ECU's. Keep eyes out for G3 Lem ecu's popping up on ebay. I just got one for £323 and it would be ideal for NA-T Auto or Manual.

 

Easy to map and there is Launch control, Anti lag and Flat shift as well as dual maps, and all sorts of addition outputs for controlling just about everything.

 

They also allow you to go coil on plug or wasted spark, so bye,bye dizzy and HT leads and hello blanking cap. You could also delete the dizzy and put a 36-2 on the crank for neatness. These ecu's also already have a 1UZ-FE option so can be used on V8 conversion too.

 

I can upgrade them to a 7bar Map for those going over the 2.5bar internal map sensor.

 

Link Atoms and Storms (I won't say Extreme as this is Syvecs S6 territory and the Syvecs is the far superior ecu and less money) these work in the same way (Atom doesn't have any motorsport tools Anti Lag etc but will run most engines) but have superior firmware and mapping software.

 

I'm also looking into Emerald K6 as I have one in Stock. These would also make a superb NA-T ecu and are £595 retail but would drop like a stone on 10 of group buy.

Cheers for that post Lyndon! Excellent write up / explanation about a piece of kit. Don't think there is anyone on here running one of those, certainly sounds like a brilliant alternate to the Greddy!

I have a forward facing inlet manifold in at the moment which is for an NA. It uses a Accufab 80mm Mustang TB and I was thinking of using it as a template for making some while I still have an NA engine in my car. I would think they would be about £400 - £500 complete with the throttle body. 90mm and 100mm are available for those who require silly flow. If there is any interest in this I can make enquires into getting some made.

I've been fitting ecu's and mapping Supra's for about 10 years now. I just don't make a big thing about it as I don't really have the time these days. But as it's you feel free to e-mail me your questions :D

As an aside, The coil packs for a VVTi fit a Stock TT head. So this could also be the case for the NA head. I will investigate further. I've used 1ZZ-FE coils on supra engines 1g, 7m and 2jz. 3 channel igniter from the 1MZ (2jz VVTI same unit) can also used and I have one in stock complete with connector. I'm using bosch T-Coils as they are close to CDI power as you will get with a induction coil. They are quite cheap and found on a Ford Falcon, unfortunately you can only get them from OZ for some reason.

 

I could write a book on Supra tuning the amount of knowledge I accumulated over the years :D

But, you still need an ecu to control them, right?

 

Swapping over the ignition is just knowing what to un-plug and re-connect I always assumed, the main problem was controlling the ignition after swapping the components.

The biggest problem with deleting the dizzy on an NA-T is the fact the engine position solution in embedded in the lower half of the unit. You need to add a new solution like a 36-1 toothed wheel on the bottom pulley. This will then require a stand alone ecu to control but nearly all support this format. Cheap Stand Alone ecu's that can run this setup are Link G3 LEM,Link Atom, Emerald K6, DTA and Mega Squirt. There is also a Polish ECU called an EMU Master that looks quite good for the money too.

I'm now doing a NA-T.

 

I have a VVTi bottom end for it, A 850bhp Mark "Mr Turbo" Kitchen Billet turbo, turbo smart progate 48 etc. A hybrid TT autobox, 505cc Siemens LI Top feed injectors. Oil cooler, Trans Cooler, PS cooler and remote oil filter conversion with -12 lines. I have a Link Storm in stock and an Emerald K6 and possibley a Syvec and a Link Extreme. If I get the Syvecs I will use this as I need to learn how to map it :D

 

It will be going in for it's multi point weld in Rollcage, seam weld and paint (white) with Lewis Rally Sport next month.

 

I'll be making a front facing inlet with my 90mm Billet Throttle (that nobody wanted :D) as it matches the blue anodised billet turbo bearing housing. Hopefully RadTec will sponsor the Rad and FMIC as they are local to me.

 

This will be the Cure Leukaemia Track car and be used for giving Leukaemia sufferers and Terminal children fast passenger rides. I'm hoping to team up with drivers dream days and piggy back off there track hired sessions. Failing that Bruntingthorpe will be my first choice and I will hire a day track session myself at least 4 times a year.

 

Any Trades on here who want to sponsor parts to the cause, how ever small, are welcome. I'm not expecting a built engine just a few odds and end that you always never budget for like tyres, oil, brake pads and that sort of thing. :)

 

I'm going to compile the NA-T bible from simple to full on Dizzy less, FFI, big injector, big cam'd built 800bhp monster.

Yea was contemplating removing all the crimps and soldering the wires. Loom came like that so my first task was/is going through each of the cables and making sure they are going to the right place as per a few of the guides put up here.

 

Would certainly be neater soldered & shrink wrapped!
