Rear hub removal problem (not ball joints)

I believe I have a wheel bearing prob on LH rear so I've started the job, ball joints came off after reasonable effort but I can't get the Wheel mounting hub (the one with the studs) out of the darn bearing, and boy have I tried. Any ideas? I think its got warm or hot at some time as the inside where the splines are was dry and a just few signs of very light rust so I'm thinking where the hub fits into the bearing is the same. I've tried one of those sliding weights but all that seems to be doing up to now is making more play in the actual bearing.

Sounds like you might need a complete new hub, these take some serious pressure

to get out sometimes using a proper press

Just as a point of debate (so it may seem silly to those who already know), When these great cars were new, if you had to (say) fit replacement handbrake shoes would you have pulled the hub off leaving the back-plate and taperfit ball joints in place, or would you struggle with the hub in place (possible I know, I've done it, but much easier I would emagine with the hub out of the way), just and idea I had?

No need to remove anything other than the disc, its not that hard a job to do
