Get the wiring diagram and start at the switch. I would suspect power is to the switch if you have headlights. It DOES still sound very "fusey" to me though.

Finally found the fuse causing me grief BUT everytime i pop a fuse in and turn the stalk the fuse blows...... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. So its got to be a earth issue!? god knows how this has ever happened in the first place

A REALLY good ohmeter would allow you to see where the short to ground was, following the wiring, but a suitable one would be a bench type and costly. See if there are any loom connectors to disconnect to try and isolate the area. Connectors, bulb holders, and anywhere screws have been added, or work carried out are prime suspects. Being dazzled as you try to work won't help ;) Have fun!

I'd imagine the dash lights etc are on the same switch as your sidelights so don't discount those.

I take it you've isolated each lamp/cluster and it's still popping?

Dash lights are all working perfectly when you switch the stalk over to sidelights! I have disconected every lamp and its still popping fuses!

There is a dead short somewhere, i for the life of me cant get my head around why i cant find it.... even been back to the basics.

I reckon he's electrocuted himself wiring the lights to the mains to post a photo of them working, to save face ;)
