spikedjack
Hi all, just a quick matter of opinion question here... Is a Bosch 044 overkill for a bpu'd supra with no intention of going single? Have the option to purchase one for give or take the same as a walbro pump and just wanted to make sure. Thanks Jack
JamieP
Yes, single walbro will do the job just fine and easy to fit.
spikedjack
Great stuff, cheers for that Jamie! I take it there's no reason to choose the 044 over the walbro or vice versa at bpu level?
JamieP
I would go walbro for ease of fitting, single walbro will support 550bhp, they are quieter than a 044 an all.
pedrosixfour
I fitted a NEW Walbro 255 pump and it lasted about 12 hours before the bi-rotary pump gear seized solid! I think I was just unlucky (the last of the reported bad batch probably:rolleyes:) but it put me off the design. Bought an Aeromotive 340 unit and it appears to use an impeller to move the fuel which means less parts to go wrong. Its almost a direct replacement for stock, from my experience the pump won't run without a constant 12v supply so I sorted a safe 12v supply with a relay so its all still controlled by the ignition, nice and safe. Sukhy
Walbro is fine. Have had my Bosch pump fitted for 3 years and its noisy but you learn to live with it ..
