Guigsy
Anyone else got this problem and know of a cure? My belts don't retract properly. Or they do but very slowly. And it's annoying.
marc_p
I had this in one of my Supe's, no fix I'm afraid, the mechanism will more than likely be buggared, but you can probably get some decent ones from Kieran for not a whole lotta money

marc_p
There easy mate! Just remove the trim As above, took me about 20 mins a side to do, I didn't un bolt the entire trim, just enough to get the belts in and out with.
Guigsy
Yeah I know but I'm a lazy fecker
Josh
If it's twisted, the mechanism in mine isn't powerful enough to untwist the belt. If it isn't, they fly back at an unimaginable speed!
marc_p
Yeah I know but I'm a lazy fecker Just drive to Kierans and get him to fit them for you aswell then
mattdavies
You can drive pulling the whole belt out and hoovering it, do this a few times. This worked for me on an old car of mine
Sheefa
This is blooming annoying mate!! I have the same problem on drivers side and there's so much flex that if I was to hit something I would have another foot of extra belt in front of me before I hit the windshield! I bought a harness to resolve the problem and do away with seat belt! Bignum mentioned just replacing the seatbelt tensioner.
Stevo
There's a repair thread on here somewhere written by Jay I think. Will have a look in the morning and post if I find it.
SilverSoop
A Supra I test drove not long back had that exact same problem...
benkei
I pulled the belt all the way an let it retract a few times, seemed to help. Also a trick, if you find it slackens while driving, unclip it and clip it back in. When you unclip it the belt will retract, as it's already extended a bit and doesn't have to go all the way back in it will tighten up around you, then clip it back in to secure it. Mine seems to have sorted itself now.

David P
The drivers side belt on mine was tired so replaced it with a new one from Mr T. Two years ago, it was around £60. Trouble is, it's almost as bad again already.
Guigsy
I'm going to have a go at the thread on the 3rd page of that supra forums link. Seems easy.

Ian C
The drivers side belt on mine was tired so replaced it with a new one from Mr T. Two years ago, it was around £60. Trouble is, it's almost as bad again already. I have to feed mine back in like I'm posting several letters, I agree buying new would be the way to go, have you got the part number handy? Sheefa
I have to feed mine back in like I'm posting several letters, I agree buying new would be the way to go, have you got the part number handy? Ian, I've asked Keron to get me a new one. Around £51 for the item. Worth just doing that mate as he mentioned he has to get a few. Part numbers here in pic. I believe it's 73210 you need, although that part doesn't appear to be allocated to the tension mechanism.
