Guest stevenm
Hi Got underneath my car today and noticed there appears to be some kind of cover missing from the front of the bell housing as there is a large hole which i seem to be able to see either the clutch or flywheel through? Please can you let me know if there should be some kind of cover or plate fitted? Thanks Steven Edited January 13, 2013 by stevenm (see edit history)
Kaan W
Yeah thats the inspection hole there should be a rubber plug covering although mine is still there its quite nackered and needs replacing. They just get old and fall apart. You seem to have alot of fluid there I would check that out also...

I have just recently bought the car and is the first time i have been underneath properly and will need to check where the fluid/oil is coming from. Swampy442
Looks like that could be either cam covers if its coming from the top, or rear crank seal.

I cannot see anything from the cam covers, hope not a crank seal as its only done 28,000 miles from new. I will need to have a closer look. Guest stevenm
Been to Toyota this morning. Looked through a lot of technical drawings. I think i know which one it is but cannot be 100% sure. Does anyone know the part number for the inspection hole cover? I have a part number but would like to compare it to which one club members think it is. Thanks
Guest stevenm
Hi, The part number what i think it is 90960-01809. I would like to order one from Toyota as soon as i can to stop any dirt from getting through the inspection hole. I wanted to see if anyone knows if this is the part number for it as the technical drawing i have to work from is not that great and the part is non returnable once ordered. Thanks:)

Can't guarantee that's the correct part for 100% but looks the closest thing out of about 50 drawings so don't blame me if its wrong lol;)

Swampy442
Id be more worried about where all that oil is coming from personally!
Guest stevenm
Id be more worried about where all that oil is coming from personally! Yes i do need to try to get to the bottom of where the oil is coming from. I have just recently bought the car so i only got chance to look underneath for a short time but looks as though it was coming from somewhere down the passenger side of the engine. The engine mount has a layer of oil and looks as though its coming from this then gradually working its way down to the bottom of the bell housing where the engine and gearbox meet? I'm going to have a better look this weekend but is not using any engine or gearbox oil. Ive heard the engine mounts are oil filled so maybe this is where the oil is coming from? Guest stevenm
Part fitted today, was the correct one, just rubbed a bit of oil around the outer edge and clipped into place easily.
Guest stevenm
I had a closer look at the oil leak today which seems to be coming from something which looks like a metal round canister which is located down the passenger side of the engine about halfway down the engine block. The canister has GREX on it and has 1 or 2 pipes with couplings coming out of it. The oil appears to be dripping off this then onto the engine mount then working its way around to the bottom of the gearbox. I have read what i can about this but sounds like its the oil cooler or a part which leads to the oil cooler? Does this sound right? I need to try to tighten the couplings or the large nut at the bottom of the canister but is that compact in there that i need to get some smaller spanners first.
