DodgyRog
1st up I am having an issue with a squeaking fanbelt, it was like it when I collected it from Whifbitz, Paul said they only had an old one lying around, so had had to use that, as the engine was previously running without the Aircon Anyway I have finally had the chance to put on my N/A belt on, which was fine when on my N/A, but it is squeaking as well I marked the old belt and it seems that the squeak is exactly once every full rotation of the belt, I must admit I have not checked that on the replacement yet I am just wandering if it is likely to be something else Auxilary wise other then the belt, as it seems a bit odd that both belts are doing the same The squeak isn't there until the engine has been running from cold for a couple of minutes and then it just doesn't go away 2nd question, I recent got hold of a polished fan shroud, but I have also gone back to the stock TT airbox From what I can see it won't fit if I want to keep the cold feed snorkel bit, which I do, I am considering cutting the polished fan shroud to allow it to fit, but I am not sure if it will look a bit odd behind the black snorkel part. So has anybody done this and if so can you post a pic please I don't really want to risk cutting it up and then it looking crap, as I have had several Pm's if I decide to sell it on Thanks for any help Edited December 27, 2012 by DodgyRog (see edit history)
ripped_fear
The first problem could be your aux belt tensioner? mine did this until replaced. The second problem.. is it the same type as mine? If so it is possible as you can see, but my plastic oem surround has been cut to allow the polished one to fit lower.
listy
The squeak could be the crank pulley. Tipex test it Rog.

Auxilary belt tensioner is my thought as well to be honest, but it felt very strong when I changed the belt, so I am not sure now Yeah it looks like it's the same, don't suppose you have a pic of the plastic bit you cut to fit or one close up The squeak could be the crank pulley. Tipex test it Rog. I always keep Tip-Ex on my crank pulleys, so I can rule that one out thankfully, although I will double check today, to be on the safe side Just to be sure!! I also have the n/a sqeeek. Will watch this post. Do your own post you lazy git:p;) and get yourselves up hear Sunday, that's an order:rolleyes:
Pudsey
Spray wd40 on each of the pulleys one at a time whilst running (on the shaft behind the pulley itself), and just listen to when the noise stops. Then you will find the culprit easy diagnosis complete, and then get your wallet at the ready along with some spanners.
barneybrendan
mine was like that.thought it was the tensioner but turnd out to be the aircon pump .use the small belt to see if it goes away.
