Squeeling noise on R154 conversion - maybe the prop?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

i finally got took the car for a spin last night after 6 months of getting all the bits togeather for the R154.

all is good and seems fine other than a rather distinctive high pitch squeeling noise that sounds like somethign rubbing agaist some sort of thin sheild.

Iv checked the dust sheilds but im thinking it might be the prop - i heard someone mention this can happern?

can anyone advise please?

Yea I seem to recall being told about about the prop rubbing against something gearbox end in a R154 conversion.. Think it was when Lewis (welsh-stealth) did his..

Hopefully he (or Craig) will see this and say what needed to be done to sort it (if it was his).

bloody hell, what a bugger,

in order to stop the noise i had to removed the exhuast and remove the prop and cut the prop shroud back as it was rubbing or squeelling agaist the gearbox as it slots in.

On top of that i now need to re shape the shroud round the gearbox that covers the prop as i had tryed to remove that before hand and now thats touching.

well at least i know what it was.

Back under the car tonight, please stop raining.

Yeah that....

It's a nightmare if you don't have the fabricated shifter extension! No rubber shifter surround= stupidly loud!
