Solenoid on rear Strut?

Looks more like a buzzer or beeper of some sort to me mate, this is only a guess but perhaps it's tied in with the reverse lights and is supposed to sound when you're backing up.

Where does the harness go?

Might it be a corrosion inhibitor of some sort? (another wild guess by the way!)

Not enough wires going to it for it to be a solenoid.

What is the Black rear solenoid for on the rear strut?

Surface rust normal, should I remove it?

Don't know what the Black rear solenoid is.

But I think the surface rust is normal on the shock covers, I had surface rust on mine but not as much.

I got bored one day and decided to spray them 040 White to match the Supra.

Yeah, its a parking sensor beeper. My car had one behind the side trim panels in the boot (only one though). It might be worth tracing the wiring back if you don't actualy have the sensors anymore. If your car beeps when you put it in reverse then the controller is probably still in there somewhere.

The "normal" J spec reverse beeper is a little grey box that plugs into the PCB in the instrument panel.
