john88
Well I thought I would start a build thread as I'm now doing a full rebuild after my off at Castle Combe. So I guess the best place to start would be the beginning.. I bought my supra from an importers 12 months ago, J-spec import already with some bits an pieces on there including a blitz sus filter, HKS fmic, Zeal coilovers, BBS Alloys, Bomex Front, side skirts and Failside spats. It didn't take long before I started to do a few bits on her (4 hours actually), I fitted some nice JBL's in the front door panels, some cheap (well in comparison to what's on the market) mid's in the rear. HKS SSQV blow off, and an alpine head unit. As time went by and I survived the snow and ice a few more bits were done, Tyres, all fluids and filters changed. Touched up a few stone chips and had the bomex front repaired a couple of times Then next logical step was to head for BPU... So changed plugs, Japspeed double decat and HKS fcd as well as a cheap boost gauge were fitted. While on the task I also did the brake/fog light mod. So as I've always been in to track days with the mini I decided it was going to be the supra's turn, First Outing PPC at Mallory Park: Now that is a fun little track!! After that I realised the clock was heading up for the 100,000km mark so I ordered from Paul a gates uprated belt (thinking of the future here), fan belt, Pulley's and ordered the rest of the bits from toyota. I also got myself some HKS adjustable cam gears (again thinking of the future). While I was at that I also painted the fan, (its the small things that count) So with all that done, I thought I would try my first chav show which was ultimate street car... Also had a few mates that were going but dropped out last minute. I spent the saturday on the strip (in between showers) and got a best run of 13.6 could have done better but the lack of traction was terrible. A few pics racing my mate in his vRS I also met Rob and finally saw his golden beast in person One day.... One day. Not much really happened with the car progress wise as I was saving up for a respray and new body kit, but I went on a track day down at castle combe when this happened: So that was on the saturday on monday I had to do the 500 mile round trip in my wagon to go and pick her up from combe which was kindly dry stored for me! I got her home and stated stripping, It turns out that not only was the rear quarter un-savable but the rear panel was bent as well as the boot floor. So that was it, Engine out and rip the thing apart: Luckily Keron just happened to have a rolling facelift shell that hadn't been smacked that he wanted rid of...... Cue the next part of the saga............ Which I'm going to make you wait for but I will show you, the new shell. More progress has been made, and the body work is about 50% done..... more to come, Also I can't upload any more picture to this post! john88
Thought a little update was in order as this thread is slipping away. I'm currently on with test fitting all the panels (the car looks like a patch work quilt) So far we have the new bumper from Mr.T on with the MVP lip: TRD half carbon spoiler and the trail rear. The trail rear came from knight racer and is going to take hours of messing around with filler and fibreglass to get it how I want. Also test fitted my blitz skirts which I've got to start hacking as I'm doing a little 'custom work' with them So work is slow as it's pretty much all done on my own, I've also do the bonnet to cut holes in for the aerocatches. Then It's time for glass out and find someone to paint it for me!
