dan294
I've got the option to get a set of new D2 coilovers at the right money as their main distributor is literally round the corner from me. I realise you get what you pay for etc, but I just want to know if anyone has used them and what are they like?
add heywood
Been looking at these for the mr2, would be good to know what they are like...
TuneR
I had a set on my S2000 before, very stiff but iirc correctly they've changed the spring rates since then. They were fine on main roads and track but too stiff on rural roads. I didn't have any problems with mine either, did about 22k km in 4 years on them from new and when i sold them they were fine bar some surface corrosion on the springs. I have heard of damper leak issues though.
dan294
Was the damper leaking issue on the older versions though?
benkei
D2s are popular amongst Hondas. If it were for the Supra then I'd feel better about saving a little more and getting HSDs or BCs, which a lot of members here use and are very pleased with. tried and tested and all that... Fair point, was just pondering different options really.
benkei
Fair point, was just pondering different options really. Depends upon the price really. They're not bad coilovers, but there are better ones around.
dan294
Depends upon the price really. They're not bad coilovers, but there are better ones around. I know what you mean. Price is a good bit off the prices they are on their website.
Nic
What shocks and springs do you currently have fitted?
dan294
What shocks and springs do you currently have fitted? Bilsteins with stock springs.
Guest Rsand85
Been looking at these for the mr2, would be good to know what they are like... had these on my mr2 turbo and would def say well worth the cash
Marcus GTE
Got them on mine and they are pretty good on rd. I'd like it if they had rebound dampening though to make it smoother through sharp dips in the rd etc. I like them.
matt k
Very good IMHO, but have a low ride height at the front and are very firm, handling wise, I had the lance wheel alignment and it was very settled.
Chris Wilson
The internal valving is as crude as it comes, and the seals and top bearing are very basic. Not a patch on the Bilsteins you already have, assuming they are the German made ones. In fact, to improve on German built Bilsteins you need to pay quite a lot of money and be up into mid range stuff like Nitrons.
dan294
That's all I needed to hear. Thanks Chris!
