Samurai 20V
http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?683865-USDM-BPU-vs.-JDM-BPU Opinions? I assume the UK Spec is the same as the US Spec?
listy
After reading that, may just have to source some USDM turbos Not sure if the uk turbos handle high 400s or not. B But then, most go single if looking for that much.
j_jza80
US and UK turbos are the same. The Yanks highly inflate their BPU figures.
Guest Budz86
The yanks highly inflate all their figures!
Nic
US/UK turbos (CT12B) have smaller turbine wheels and narrower shaft/bearing diameter compared to the J-spec turbos (CT20A). http://www.turbointernational.com/images/catalog-pdf/Catalog-Toyota.pdf Edited November 11, 2012 by Nic (see edit history)
Guigsy
All I know is I went head to ahead with a chap whose name I don't remember at thunder road. My uk bpu auto vs his jspec bpu auto. Almost the same mods... We were both surprised how easily I pulled away on the 2nd tubby. 1st tubby wasn't much different And I too highly doubt the 410 wheel bhp comment. More like fly bhp
tony tt
And I too highly doubt the 410 wheel bhp comment. More like fly bhp Agreed. Mind you it's not worth the hassle of getting into a debate with them on this as they don't handle criticism very well at all.
Samurai 20V
So the UK spec is faster than the J Spec? I read on here before the power/torque figures are more or less the same on the 2..
Mario
Nic US/UK turbos (CT12B) have smaller turbine wheels and narrower shaft/bearing diameter compared to the J-spec turbos (CT12A). http://www.turbointernational.com/im...log-Toyota.pdf ^^Aren't the JDM spec turbo's the CT20A's and the CT12A used in the 1JZ-GTE? I'm confused now. @OP The export version of the 2JZ-GTE achieved its higher power output with the use of newer stainless steel turbochargers (ceramic for Japanese models), revised camshafts, and larger injectors (550 cc/min for export, 440 cc/min for Japanese). Additionally, the export-exclusive CT12B turbine received more durable turbine housings and stainless steel turbine and impeller fins. In my understanding a safe boost level for the ct20's would be considered at 1,2 bar and for more reliabillity 1 bar.
