Urgent help bleeding coolant system.

Recommended Posts

I have just started my car for the first time since the mods and after 3 minutes of running boiling hot coolant started p***ing out the overflow. The bottom radiator hose is cold as the air coming out the heaters in the car. Ive tried running the car with the cap off squeezing the bottom hose but I just cant seem to get any coolkant in the engine.

Is there a bleed valve?

Any help?

Thanks!

Right so I just jacked the front end up about 20cm and started the car with all the heating on, rad cap off and squeezing the hell out of the pipes but nothing.

Bottom rad pipe still cold but alot of steam coming out the top of the radiator after a few minutes. Top water neck and water pump are too hot to touch.

I'd check the stat mate, might be rusted shut

It should open if the engines getting hot is what I thought.

Also I opened the rad cap when I saw the steam start coming out the overflow and as you can imagine I got a hot water founting! But the water wernt boiling just hotish. Dunno if this helps

Run it with the cap off mate to get rid of air locks, every now and again, raise the revs to about 2000RPM, keep watching for bubbles in the top of the rad. Once that stat opens, provided it isn't stuck shut, the level in the rad will drop. Keep topping it up till the rad is full, leave it running till the temp gauge sits in the middle, the heaters are hot and the bubbles stop. The leave it overnight to cool, repeat the process in the morning with the rad cap off and run it up with the cap off till warm make sure there are no bubbles in the rad filler neck.

Yeah its a brand new srd rad. The heaters in the car are cold. Didnt look at the temp gauge in car i'll have a look next time mate.

Do what I said mate, run it with the cap off and keep topping the rad up, once the stat opens, the heaters should start getting hot.
