Kaan W
Still really confused on this guys and my MOTs coming up. So here is how it stands, my side lights are the outer dome shaped lights that come on with the 1st click on the indicator stalk. Then next click is the dipped lights the middle bulb in each headlight which are hid6000s. Then main beam is the last click and the large inner bulbs in headlight. Fog lights??? When I switch these on the little twisty bit on the indicator stalk I get nothing. Rear fogs are the button on the dash WITH the twisty bit on indicator stalk. So where the hell are my front fog lights? And what are the little orange bulbs in the little pimple shaped thing at the bottom of the headlights? (Not working). Thanks
dan294
Fog lights are the outer lights I think, in the headlights. Mine don't work either. It's not an MOT fail I don't think. The blobs in the bottom of the headlights are sidelights. I presume they're disconnected and you have facelift front indicators with sidelights built in. your headlights must be wired differently if the outer lights are sidelighst, unless UK spec are different? Kaan W
Yeah I have facelift front indicators but these bulbs are disconnected too. So my fog lights are wired to come on as side lights it seems. Is this normal for a UK? Delboy52
The fog lights are meant to be the furthest outer ring in both main clusters. Side lights are either the integrated dome (pre-facelift) or with the front indicator (facelift). MOT requires rear fog lights only.

Oh so if its not a requirement on the front then it looks like previous owner has wired in the front fogs as sidelights for some reason
Scooter
Fog light 'ring' switch I believe only works the fogs when the main headlights are also 'on'...............worth giving this a try to see what happens
mellonman
are you sure the fog light switch on the stalk is in the correct position
Delboy52
Yep. Maybe they liked the look of extra lights full time. They could've saved the rewire hassle and just left the fog switch on though

I think you're right. That would explain the rewire
Kaan W
Fog light 'ring' switch I believe only works the fogs when the main headlights are also 'on'...............worth giving this a try to see what happens Well the very first click on the stalk with everything else off is the outer dome shaped bulbs. are you sure the fog light switch on the stalk is in the correct position Pretty sure mate, theres only two positions I thought off and on? Yep. Maybe they liked the look of extra lights full time. They could've saved the rewire hassle and just left the fog switch on though Unless I somehow wired them in differently when I stripped the front of the car but I cant see that happening. Im gunno have another play around it just seems very odd but ive checked everything over and over.
Noz
front fogs will work with only side lights on
mellonman
front fogs will work with only side lights on exactly
thomo8568
Sounds like its bin re wired at some point. The little orange bulbs in the little pimple shaped thing at the bottom of the headlights are where my side lights are. Sounds like yours have bin changed to indicators at some point. Think from outside to inside mine go dipped, fog main, with side in the little nipple at the bottom. Fog and dipped may be other way round
