Black_Supra
Hey guys, my Single Build began, going for a GW Turbokit with a BW S372 Turbo and some nice 1200 ccm Injectors & Built Head with 272 Cams (Just some Facts). Of course i want to build my block, it is now completly teared down and i am searching for the right Piston & Rod Setup, there is such a big market with many brands, whats your expirience ? HP Target >800 HP Pistons: JE; CP; MAHLE; WISECO Rods: EAGLE, MANLEY, PAUTER The most combos are around 1200/1300 $ in the USA, maybe any traders here in UK ? PM me thanks in advance Fabian
Alex
I'd go for; JUN (made by Cosworth) or MAHLE pistons Carillo H-Beam rods.
Black_Supra
I'd go for; JUN (made by Cosworth) or MAHLE pistons Carillo H-Beam rods. Thanks mate! But i think i don`t need a 1XXX Setup, maximal for 800-1000 HP, i think i can get cheaper internals than JUN & Carillo, don`t want to spend my money in S*** but i don`t wanna buy the cheapest stuff. I read about many people in the USA driving over 1000 HP on Eagle Rods =)
mwilkinson
I have Manley H-Beam rods and Mahle pistons in mine. I'm aiming for similar power and these seemed like a good setup. Not run the engine yet but should be back on the road next summer.

Sounds like a good Setup to me, where you bought the stuff ? thanks
mwilkinson
Bought this all through Paul Whiffin. I have the 280 cams with a sage 2 head with dual springs and titanium retainers. I'm going to run this on a Batmowheel S366 and should clear 800 and still retain a good power band through the rev range. Paul mentioned a race jacket which increases spool times which I might try too. Might want to consider the same?

Alex
See, now I don't get tuning like this. If you're going to build an engine, why wouldn't you want the best in it? I'm not talking F1 quality, just best off the shelf. I prefer to use items that have been proven. Carillo's will out last 99% of the others. JUN pistons will be high grade alloy and will not warp under extreme heat/load, I remember CW getting a CP piston and was horrified at how out of shape it was from the factory... Decent parts aren't just about power, they are about longevity they may be the difference between 1 expensive rebuild and down-time vs multiple labour intensive rebuilds with cheaper parts. Krister
There's no point in over building it just because there is higher end parts available. I've had Eagle / CP rod combo for three years and last year was at over 1100hp. My engine was built for 900hp in mind, but I got a little carried away... For the regular blokes 700-900hp, Eagle and JE/CP etc combo will be more than enough. I even ran with the stock engine for two years at 800hp.
