Ls400 brakes on an NA

I've tried searching but the only threads I could find have been inconclusive really. Wondered what people's thoughts/opinions are on fitting Lexus Ls400 4 pots fronts and will the rears fit too? Do they bolt straight up?

What is the braking performance like in comparison with JSpec/UK's?

Cheers

Josh

rears do not fit mate, fronts do, but will need a a slight file to one edge, yes direct bolt on replacement. these are lighter than UK spec calipers. and members have said they out perform the uks. set of chris wilson fast road pads, awesome!

There are two reasons to fit these instead of UK's,

1. They are significantly cheaper

2. You are building a full on race car and weight is an issue

As said above you will have to modify (I read bodge) to make them fit, IMO I wouldn't want to be filing down anything as important as this. It may be well within tolerances but I wouldn't be happy with it, just my opinion of course. I would like to see evidence that these are better than UK's, all I seen so far is peoples opinions, no concrete proof.

They're not better, they have been found to have slightly less power than uk's. Smaller pad area and smaller disc. It's only slight and prob not noticeable to the average driver but they are significantly lighter and a vast improvement on single pot jspecs. As for bodging the install, that's personal opinion but the material that is removed and where it is does not cause issue in my opinion.

They are not better than "UK" 4-piston calipers. Although the pistons are, IIRC, the same size, the discs are smaller (315mm), so they are slightly less powerful.

These calipers are fitted to many Supras, Soarers, and Lexus SCs on three continents, and I haven't found any reports of problems casued by the mod.

there you go josh, plenty of info to get on with but, Take it from someone with experience of actually having them fitted and using them, give craig a shout he had these on his 500bhp+ NA-T, for the minamal outlay its your best bet £££££ wise, yes your welcome to mine when their removed bud

I have these now and they are an excellent setup, the calipers are very light, it's defo the route I would especially with the daft price people want for uk spec brakes.

Incorrect. Rears will fit fine and they will even bolt to the Supra's slider (same dimensions but the LS400 just has an extra bracket for the pad wear sensor wiring) - they even use the same brake pads. I've got LS400 front and rear brakes on my car and have used LS400 rears on my previous Supras as they were easier to obtain and seem less prone to sticking. Obviously the brakes have to come from a UCF20 LS400.
