tbourner
mine passed very recently with HIDs btw. I had mine done in late Sept and it went straight through. MOT, not NCT, different rules. Mine passed the MOT last week with HIDs, but according to the manual it wouldn't pass an NCT.

pbryant_knight
HIDs are ok providing you have projection lamps which the supras do. It's the corsas and the like that fail mots with HIDs because they have an open area light cluster where the whole cluster reflects the light forward. AndrewOW
I also have full beam HIDs, and I'm sure they are a non-projector type. I don't think MOT test the full beam anyway, do they?
Guigsy
Your going to dazzle anyone with full beams regardless of bulb type. That's the point

They should check all lighting i think as if it's fitted it should be working rule.
tbourner
Main beam doesn't have a beam pattern test so It's fine. Shouldn't have HIDs as main beam though cos they take a few seconds to boot up. Not sure how new cars use the bi-xenons though?
pbryant_knight
Good point, forgot about the HID ignition sequence lol.
AndrewOW
You say you shouldn't have HIDs as a full beam, and even though mine do take a few seconds to warm up, if I have to flash anyone, they are instant. HID full beams are incredible! They are like a night sun.
tbourner
I was going to get some 3000K fogs and 5000K mains to go with my 5000K dipped, but was put off by the boot up time, I rarely hold the flash on for more than 1/10 second when flashing people (ooh-err missus), really just a tiny little flick of the stick (ooh-err missus). My dipped's come on when I flash someone so I know they don't come up in time.
AndrewOW
My full beam HIDs flash instantly, and can do so on and off for quite some time.
