Arron
To all UK spec owners (current/past) Please answer one simple question is BPU'ing a JSpec the same as a UK Spec TT. More specifically the EBC side, will an EBC be sufficient or is something else needed. I have done my research on here and found some very conflicting advice, spoke to "Guru's" and again conflicting advice. So as you can imagine I'm somewhat confused..... Hence this post is for those of you who have had first hand experience in BPU'ing a UK Spec TT (AUTO or Manual) Thanks in advance. Arron
Cheers Gaz I have read that but then other peeps say you need a piggy back ECU blah blah blah..... Oh well I'll go by the advice on that link. Will post an update shortly... Gaz6002
It's widely stated that 1.4 bar is OK, but personally I'd keep it at 1.2 bar for longevity.
Dnk
You will need an FCD and a boost controller as well as your exhaust, de cat and iridiums. What grade are the Iridiums and to be honest 1.2 or 1.25 bar is really the way to go What condition is your intercooler in, is it still the original SMIC ? If it is it might pay you to have a close look at it as the cooling fins on mine were crumbling to dust several years ago. I always used to hear 1.4 bar was the max on UK spec but recently heard people saying also not to go over 1.2 bar even on uk spec turbos. You can run them at 1.4 bar but I think heat becomes a problem.
Guigsy
Iv ran 1.4 but only occasionally. 1.3 daily. And my turbos have done 160k miles and are still origonals. You also don't have to run a boost controller. Although its better to realy. The wastegates on the uk turbos are better suited and hold about 1.2 bar just fine. Boost controller if you want more. You don't need a restristrictor ring Edited October 30, 2012 by Guigsy (see edit history)
