VW MK4 TDI GOLF TURBO PROBLEM your opion?

just got this car found rather alot of oil in IC piping that comes from bottom of turbo to the SMIC im guessing its gone as in turbo seals,

no oil leaks around it just inside piping and around turbo any thoughts pls:rolleyes:

 

when lower pipe removed from turbo engine running had constant drip of oil too:(

It's turbo rebuild time I'm afraid. Be very careful running it like that. Being a diesel it will pick up and run on the oil dripping into the inlet. If it takes off, theres no stopping it unless you've a decent clutch and can stall it VERY quickly in a high gear. Half knackered clutch will just slip, it'll run until theres no oil left at some crazy high rpm, then it will just seize up (if it's not gone bang in the meantime!)

depends on mileage,its quite normal to have excessive oil build up in the intercooler pipes on diesels that i have seen. remove piping from intercooler and flush out. also clean map sensor that should be fitted to the pipe that goes to the inlet body. see how you get on before going down the turbo route.

That's right. I do shed loads of these cars and they are all like that. Do as above and all should be fine for another good few miles..

Had turbo go on ours as well. IIRC, it cost £350 for a new one. Recon was not far off so decided to just get a new one. Don't forget to get a new oil feed as well. It invalidates warranty apparantly on the new turbo if new one is not fitted.

Turbo shat it self on the motorway nearly starved it self of oil but luckily engine survived. It took a few weeks for all the excess oil ibn the exhaust to burn off though. Dad had to drive everywhere with a smokescreen behind.

Also flywheel went not long after as well, being a dual mass, that wasn't cheap either :(
