Hi Chaps, Can someone please give me a little advice. I own a 95 N/A and want to fit an Oem bonnet scoop from a turbo. Just need to know if the large underbonnet metal airguide plate will fit with the N/A engine as it looks as if the inlet manifold or throttle housing might be in the way. If so has anyone made thier own guide plate. I have everything else apart from guide plate and don't want to buy one if it won't fit.

Just fit the scoop, but don't bother adding the hole & air guide underneath.

The reason it was fitted was for adding cooling during high speed cruising so unless you intend to do long journeys at 100+ mph the rest of the system really isn't needed.

Thanx for the quick replies chaps. I am aware that uk spec did not produce the N/A. Just need to know if that big metal air guide plate won't interfere with the inlet over the rocker. I already have everything bar the airguide plate. Just fitting the scoop for looks and not necessarilly wanting to cool down 5 & 6 cylinders. Sorry SteveR, Won't be taking your advice and risk it flying off at speed. I like to do things right.

Thanx for that info Listy, Always wondered why i saw alot of tt's without the bonnet scoops. I just love the scoop look as it finishes it off and especially with the active spoiler aswell. I wanted a tt but my budget wouldn't allow, I will get one before i die though.

Donkey, the guide doesn't hold it on. "Doing it right".... pfft. Criticise when you know what you're on about.

I have the scoop but no air guide. It's fine at 175mph.

Think I remember reading that it was required due to extra heat generated by the exhaust gas recirculation system the UK spec uses in order to meet the emissions regulations at the time and that the scoop also adds 1bpu (according to Toyota)

I like how it has a purpose and isn't just cosmetic

I sincerely apologise steve for my ignorance. It's just that i was picturing trapped air in the scoop at high speed and thought it would cause some drag/noise or worse make the scoop come loose. Do you forgive me? no ones perfect and i am not. At least i am man enough to apologise and admit that i have embarrassed myself. I'm not a bad chap really. hope my comment hasn't offended as i love the club. guess i will be just bolting it on then:rolleyes:

Hi Dnk, Firstly i am just fitting it for looks and i downloaded a walk through from mk4.com which is easy to follow. I am going to make the hole because the 2 brackets and plastic plate which holds the other 2 bolts sits lower than the bonnet so this is why i have to cut through, the only reason i wanted advice for an air guide is simply because i certainly do not want water near the engine. I may make something to attach so that any drafted water will pass.

No worries, sorry if I was OTT and jumped down your throat.

If it's just for the look, fix it to the bonnet and don't bother with any holes. Honestly, it'll be fine.

I'm looking to fit one of these myself to a JDM RZ in the near future but I never realised there was a little snorkel in the bay - probably won't be using that and just fitting it to the cut and letting the cold air get into the rear of the engine (I'll be attending more and more track events as time goes on) - never thought about water getting into the engine bay through it - anyone have that problem? (Sorry to hijack a little!)
