Big Mark
My bootlid is rather heavy to lift open, I'm ok with it but the gf struggles a bit with it. I'm wondering if my gas struts are on the way out or is it normal to be a bit 'weighty'. How heavy are others peoples? Big Mark
Dam, I better look into getting new struts then....
Nic
If you have a stock rear wing the struts should be able to support the weight of the boot, sounds like one of your struts has blown (check for fluid leak) and it's only being supported on one side. Very easy DIY fix.
Big Mark
I had a failed strut on my last supra and on that car the boot wouldn't stay open. At the moment mine stays open fine but is somewhat heavy to lift open.

I remember a while back members having a problem with spoilers filling up with water, the extra weight maybe the culprit ? Think it was TRD spoilers. Correct, Clay had this in his Carbon TRD spoiler & it made it weigh a tonne!! He got rid of the water & then resealed it back up again & it was fine. I noticed a few when opening them up they are a little heavy, mine included.

If I had as TRD I doubt it would open. Anyone know how much replacements cost and are they only available from toyota?
