Graham1984
I was driving along earlier and my drivers side window slowly started to creep down until it was fully open, the passengers side works fine controlling it with my side window controls although mine depending what way you press the switch just whirring sound and does nothing although a cable with a stop end is visible that seems to be overextending by the top of the door card. My mate who is a mechanic is coming to have a look and he thinks it is the door regulator or something similar so I thought I would see what you guys thought too. My main concern is that I go to Madrid on Thursday and don't have a garage to put it into so it may be a course of getting the window raised manually and putting some wedges in to hold it up in the air until I can get it fixed or the part needed to do it. listy
If you hear a whirring sound, the motor is fine. Maybe the glass has just come off the runners? Take the door card off both sides, and see if anything looks out of place.
Graham1984
I cant really see any problems but that is more than likely due to me being less than useless. If it turns out to be a motor or regulator ect how much would a replacement bit be at a guess??
a98pmalcolm
My motor went but in the heat. But there was no sound at all so listy is right there I think. Take the door card off (its dead easy) and try to assist the window by putting your hand on the glass flat palmed and then flick the switch to see if that helps. Only idea I have really. I tried that mate but it didn't seem to want to move, I didn't want to take off the moisture barrier atm and thought I better get my mate to look first. Graham1984
Turns out it's the regulator as the cable was snapped on it, luckilly for me Robb D has one up for sale so I will be off to hopefully collect his asap. Thanks for the help/opinions/advice and a moderator can lock this thread now if they like.
