Supra Ems
Hey guys, My poor Supra has just failed it's MOT on a leaky shock. I'm looking to upgrade them. Does anyone know if there is any difference between the NA and TT suspension before I fork out on a set? Mine is NA. Any recommendations? Also, Is it a job for an amateur mechanic (fitted shocks on a few other cars before) or the garage? Thanks!
mattdavies
An amateur mechanic will be capable they are not that difficult
Nic
I'd go with a set of the optional Toyota/Bilstein dampers and perhaps a set of Eibach springs. Easy enough to fit if you have somewhere dry to work and have a good set of tools. You'll need to get the geometry checked/adjusted once fitted. 2 x 48510-09016 Toyota/Bilstein Damper 2 x 48530-09016 Toyota/Bilstein Damper http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/1017/cimg00037nc.jpg

Spring rates are deffo different due to weight of car. Get in touch with Chris Wilson on here. New set of German spec Bilsteins with great aftercare. Forget Demon Tweeks. Swampy442
Dont fit Teins.
Supra Ems
Oh well... Just logged on after ordering new Tein coilovers and saw the last post! What's the problem with them? The Bilstein ones were a bit out of my price range, sadly. The car's been expensive this year (broke down in bloody France!)
Swampy442
Teins are without doubt, the most unforgiving, bone crunching 'suspension' out there. Also why did you log on, ask a question then not take the advice?
Dnk
Bilsteins for the win with either stock springs or Eibachs
monsween
I actually quite like my BCs really nice on the softer settings. I'm running so low it has to be not he hardest and still not overly uncomfortable

I didn't see the other replies till too late, sadly. I'll have to wait and see if they loosen any dental fillings. I quite like a stiff ride anyway

listy
BC Coilovers ftw. Unless you have much monies for top of the range shocks.
Swampy442
If they're worse than the Cuscos on my Soarer they must actually be solid. My Soarer came with Teins, and I actually bought a set in years gone by. You tend to develop a 6th sense for avoiding pot holes and drain covers. Now running HSDs and Im very pleased with the ride.
