mihai
Is the first time when is leaking oil.. a lot of transmission oil. the supra is single turbo with 440 hp, the gearbox has no oil cooler, the oil smells burntand is quite brown.... the gearbox is working well it shifts smooth and the 1,2,D,N,R changes are normal. It is this broken? Thank you very much for your time!
straightsix
So are you asking if it's still ok to drive? Or are you asking where it's leaking? Obviously, if it's leaking you need to at least have a look to see where as that would imply something may be broken. It may be a small leak but it might cause further problems if left. Get under it and give things a clean and maybe at least try to locate the leak.....!

(maybe is time to move to manual R154)

(maybe is time to move to manual R154) How do you know its coming from your transmission? If its coming from between your gearbox and engine it could be engine oil. What level is your autobox fluid at? is it losing fluid? What about the cooler in the rad, is it in good nick as if it were to develop a leak I would look there first as the lines are quite exposed if your not running an undertray for example. The engine oil level is perfect and it can´t be engine oil because it smells different, the smell of the gearbox oil from the stick indicator is the same as the oil from the leak. the level in the transmission oil is lower but it still have 70% of the oil. I will add photos.
Dnk
Should be pretty easy to tell the difference between ATF and engine oil.
Kaan W
Is it a UK or J spec car? Because UKs should have a seperate bigger cooler. If youve gone single then having a bigger cooler is a definate must as the radiator cooler just is not good enough. You should not need to go manual as there has been many people running 500bhp+ on the stock autobox me being one of them. Its easy for the rubber oil lines from the box to the cooler to become brittle and crack which im guessing is what happened, as for the oil being brown this is not good either. I would reccomend you do the following - Drain all the fluid Replace the filter in the transmission with a new one Top up with fresh fluid AND GET A COOLER! And fix the leak If its between engine and box it could be the front main seal in the box, if the ATF is really bad i'd be inclined to get the box out and do a proper flush on it inc the T/C Edited October 16, 2012 by Dnk (see edit history)
Kaan W
And fix the leak That also
Swampy442
Its possible the oil coming from the breather on top of the gearbox, if it is ATF.

mihai
Not again...... the same big leak of the transmission oil, after i change the gaskets, the filter, cleaned the gearbox, new oil, new crank bearing, custom made chromium ring of the oil pump, etc. This was 2 months ago and i drive it 300km... i know it can´t be somthing expensive but i start to hate the auto box. what is the breather on top of the gearbox? can it be a oil line that broken? I am so sad.
Swampy442
The breather is just that, a breather to relieve excess pressure.

mihai
Was the correct amount of fluid in it ie: not overfilled It was running perfect 2 months and yesterday night disaster. I had to drive it (slow) with no oil at all 15mph to get it to this respected mechanic in town who repaired last time. Is frustrating but i hope he will find the problem today. The gears change are late than kicking when get in gear.

Shane
The thing is, it did have some ATF in it. It simply wouldn't move anywhere without.
Swampy442
I reckon, the gearbox was filled to the full mark with the engine off, therefor its massively overfilled, hence the fluid being dumped. Does it operate normally apart from that?
