Kaan W
I have a UK spec car with UK spec rear lights but want to swap to facelift rear lights. I have read that wiring needs to be changed but what exactly needs changing? Is there a simple guide to follow or someone thats done this point me in the right direction? Also is it against the law not to have rear fog lights fitted? Thanks

No, they should plug straight in. Also is it against the law not to have rear fog lights fitted? Yep. You will need to convert a pair of brakes to also work as a fog. Thankfully 99.9% of MOT stations don't observe the rule about the minimum distance between the fog light and brake light, so its fine to make a rear fog light this way. mattdavies
Heckler sells a device that converts two of your rear lights to fog lights. The device basically uses a set of brake lights as fog lights, but when fog light isnt on they are still brake lights
Kaan W
No, they should plug straight in. Plug straight back in and work with no issues? Im sure ive read that all light wiring is different and you cant just swap between j spec, uk spec, facelift, pre facelift. Having some facelift led rears made up by heckler but dont want to get them and they dont fit or work because the wirings different.
Littler
They wouldn't work surely as the 2 inside lights are fog lights on a uk where as they are reverse lights a set of facelifts? Unless it's a case of just fitting the bulb holders in different positions to make them match the lenses? lol
heckler
they will fit with no altering to the wiring - on my car i've had facelift, UK spec and Pre facelift! - all plug and play.

heckler
obviously - on a uk spec lights the plug has a 6th wire for the fog light, which is an empty slot on the JSpec loom so the JSpec's wont have a fog light.
