tina n paul
Hi all , i have a question , basically my aircon works but i noticed that the supra doesnt have an air con fan ? thus aircon is next to useless unless the car is moving ,? I no i can buy slimline fans, and fit them to help . i havent looked to see if it would actually fit ,and i would need to wire it in a certain way via switch , But am i right in thinking this is factory standard no air con fan ??,,to help condense the air con rad faster ? any help appreciated cheers paul . listy
On the radiator shroud, there should be a smal fan on the passenger side. This is for the air con iirc.
straightsix
There's no air con fan on an NA. The only reason an extra fan is fitted to a TT is to help with engine cooling due to the extra engine load when running the AC. It's nothing to do with condensing at all. Your AC will work fine. An I can confirm my car still blows out ice cold air sitting in traffic on a 30c day, well I do live in London!!
Dnk
The small electric fan or fans on the radiator are linked into the water coolant temp Page CO-29 in the Cooling systemSupra cooling system.pdf

See my explanation above dude Yep, his answered your question above An just for clarifition I have owned both a NA & TT and doesn't make a difference, though the NA does seem a little colder! tina n paul
ok if above is correct , how on earth does it condense the air if theres no fan ? evry car ive ever driven and thats a few need a fan to condense air properly
Abz
The Supra uses magic dust I honestly have no idea how, but it works, bit like how a Fridge works without a fan.
straightsix
How does rain dry up on the pavement on a dull day? Surface area and air. God doesn't get a big fan out.....! Science. Not just on Brainiac. I think Toyota's boffins know what they're doing. Even on cars with electric fans, they don't start running just because the air con is switched on. Ever noticed the big fan on the back of your fridge? Nope, because it doesn't need one! Instead of worrying about why your air con is working correctly and as Toyota intended, try working out how a bumblebee can fly! Thats how it works. The a/c rad is in front of the main rad. When a/c is turned on the ECU ups the idle to absorb the load of the compressor and to increase air flow through the a/c rad. Pulley
yeah exactly wot swampy said also the viscous fan unit is temp sensative the internal resistance of the viscous fan hub changes as the radiator temps increase, thus self regulating, the condensor upps the temp of the air being sucked thru the rad and the fan then spins more actively, so as you sit in traffic and the temps increase the fan spins more actively and thus cools more
