Those LOOK awesome, but the threads from the BMW forums really aren't promising. :( I would say there's no smoke without fire and just avoid them...

Also:

I would class Rotas as better

The implication being that Rotas are no good...?

Those threads don't look good :(

Marc you say they aren't forged are you talking about both the adv1's and the rota's? As the ones I'm after are forged adv15ts (track spec).

Thanks for the heads up though :) ill be definitely doing some more homework and won't be buying them if that's happening to forged wheels!!

Just re-read some more threads its not looking good but there does seem to be cast issues more than forged, it hasn't given me confidence yet though

Your right...those are terrible pictures!:p

Haha! ;)

:p

Build Update

I've made the decision to definitely go high compression with JE 9.5:1 pistons which will provide some very nice off boost driving while making more power at a lower boost level and decreasing lag a little, will be ordering these and Titan billet mains in the next week or so.

My other block and head will be with me soon and then it will be sent off to get built up in August :D

So the engine/turbo spec is looking like this now:

Engine:

- JE 87mm 9.5:1 CR pistons

- Rods?

- Titan billet main caps

- SRD Stage 3 head - lightly ported and polished

- SRD Stage 2 269 cams - 9.6mm lift

- HKS adjustable cam pulleys

- Custom breather system - venting to downpipe (vacuum monitored through Syvecs)

- SRD billet tensioner bracket

- SRD complete pulley set - 4 spoke design

- Welded timing star ✔

- OEM oil pump ✔

- OEM water pump ✔

- OEM crank pully ✔

- SRD billet water neck

- OEM coil packs ✔

- OEM auxiliary belt tensioner ✔

- NGK R7436-9 spark plugs

- SRD rear engine boxes

Turbo & Exhaust:

- Precision 6766DBB turbo - 1.0 A/R divided Zircotec liquid black finished housing ✔

- SRD tubular manifold/Treadstone ported cast manifold - Zircotec liquid black finish

- Tial MV-S 44mm Wastegate - screamer pipe finished in Zircotec liquid black

- HKS racing BOV

- 4" downpipe - vband, flex section, Zircotec liquid black finish

- 4" midpipe - vband

- 4" HKS Ti catback - vband ✔

I have the urge to go spoiler less, need to get that out my system!!!

Have you been drinking or something Adam!! You need to get that idea out your head. :D

Having said that It can look good on some cars, I'm just not sure stock body pulls it off that well.

Ignoring the fact I am typing this with a pint in my hand :D I've noticed the same with stock bodied Supes after having a quick hunt at pics, its Greg's Supra that got me thinking about it but then there's a trial rear and skirts which I've only just removed lol.

+1 to that, do it Adam, at least for a little while and see how you like it, I've thought Greg's is one of the best looking de-spoilered supra's, needs to be de-spoilered and with a little carbon lip though in my opinion :)
