Dave
started the car today and noticed a petrol smell looked underneath and its leaking from one of the metal pipes 4 inches under the plastic cover, that goes underneath at the back ,took off the cover and ive got about an inch of corroded pipe, strange thing is all the other pipes look brand new. so can i chop this bit out and replace it with a piece of plastic pipe and jubilee clips, save replacing the whole thing which looks like it will be a PITA without a ramp.should be ok until i can get it into the garage. David P
It's a bodge, yet if it's the return pipe you could do that to get out of trouble, but if it's the feed pipe then no. To replace it's not as difficult as you might think.
Havard
I did this on my old NA. It's the pipes that sit in the plastic cover over the top over the top of the rear suspension. My mechanic at the time just fitted a couple of pieces of rubber (petrol safe) hoses and never had a problem again. H.
Dazzi
A cheap easy fix as previously mentioned just chop the corroded bit off and fit some fuel hose in between but make sure its on tight. Quite a lot of garages do this on older cars if you can't buy dealer bits anymore.
CanisLupus
Why would you bother with fuel hoses n sh... if you can get the pipe new from toyota for little money, replace it and be sure it will be 100% okay the next 15 years...
dr_jekyll
as said if is return then pipe it, if its feed then replace it. if you are going to pipe the feed get a small copper pipe flair first
merckx
I've replaced a fuel pipe that went from the tank to the filter, cheaper than I thought it would be.
Dave
there are four pipes altogether if your on the passenger side then it is the 2nd pipe in think its the return cause it was still dripping for a couple of mins after i turned off the motor ,will replace the whole pipe when i can get use of a lift ,but for now some petrol pipe will get me by.
