tomsupra1
Hi everyone, I have recently got a 1994 3.0 l NA supra, which has been stood at a friends house for 3 years. As expected, it will not start It will tick over but will not fire. However will idle slightly when spraying easy start down the throttle body. Whats my next stage of attack? Do some immobilizers stop power to the fuel pump? Will the fuel be 'stale'? Off down to the garage to work on it at 10 am, so any help much appreciated. Anyone local to Chester - free tea all day (and possibly biscuits) if you wish to help Tom
LOGIE
are you jump starting it off another car? or are you using a 3 year old battery thats not been used? have you checked the leads are connected to the plugs properly?
Dnk
Dump the fuel and pop some fresh in it, check your actually getting fuel to the engine, pop a new set of cheap copper plugs in it, check dizzy cap and rotor arm are ok Edited October 6, 2012 by Dnk (see edit history)
tomsupra1
Where is the best place to dump the fuel? Tank or somewhere near the engine (just after fuel filter underneath the car looks easiest). Battery is one off my old Nova however I am jumping it from a van, and its ticking over strongly. Dnk
When you say tick over i assume you mean turn over ?

Dnk
I guess pump it out unless there is a drain plug on the tank, if there is it could be seized solid though. How much is in it ?

tomsupra1
Soooo. Filled it up with v power, fresh battery and still nothing Plugs are quite sooty, could this be it?
DodgyRog
Is fuel getting to the engine, you said the plugs are sooty, if it is not firing, I would expect them to be wet with fuel
Dnk
Is there spark at the plugs and is fuel getting to the plugs ?
tomsupra1
Plugs not wet. Starting to think its an immobilizer fault, which is cutting off the fuel pump. Any auto elecs!?
Scooter
if you go in the boot and remove the carpet, black cover and spare wheel you should be able to hear if the pumps running at any point. You can bridge x2 pins on the diagnostic port in the engine bay (or you can on a tt at least) and it'll prime the fuel line (you can hear the fuel flowing) which would at least prove the pump is operational. tomsupra1
Hi Scooter, will any 2 pins in the diagnostic port do this? Or does it have to be 2 specific ports?
skippyboyo1
Check spark? Air? Fuel? Sorted
CanisLupus
Hi Scooter, will any 2 pins in the diagnostic port do this? Or does it have to be 2 specific ports? B and FP+ if it runs don't let it run to long as it's not meant to be used for that, only to check if the pump is running
