Guest rscob
Well the power and torque from the 1uzfe engine has just ripped the sh*t out of my w58 gearbox:(,it's stripped some teeth off third and fourth gear and shot the bearings, so i dropped it off at the local gearbox specialists and the price to have it rebuilt with new bearings gears etc is way too exspensive for me:rolleyes:,so i know it's a long shot but has anybody have one for sale even a knackered one with working 3rd and 4th gear might help me out.......and before everybody starts saying fit an r154 there a lot stronger i would but the prop and bellhousing conversion etc has all been done for the 58 box ............ so come on guys pull the sheet off that spare w58 at the back of the shed or garage and turn it into some beer tokens;). Guest rscob
The R154 isn't much better, I'm on my 3rd! Really........it's the torque from the uz engine that kills these boxe's, if i manage to get one i think i will have to stop dropping the clutch at 7000rpm and spinning the wheels in third:). That won't help. I try and take care of my boxes, although it was 700+lbft before my r154 stripped 4th. The W58 is known as sh1te to be honest, a standard w58 will break if abused. If your staying stock power, an r154 would be fine with that kind of power.
JasonR24
This is the reason I'm sticking with the uk spec auto box
