Caesard
Hi fellas, already done a lot of searching for days now. I want to remove my cam covers and repaint them, but I have no new cam cover gaskets. Can I get by without fitting new gaskets? Or is there an alternative way or material, like exhaust paste it something. Just refresh my engine bay. And the cam covers look horrendous at the moment, so I can't wait any longer to do them, as I am also changing my vacuum hoses too. Cheers
_Shane_
if the old ones are in good condition i wouldnt see a problem with re-using them you can buy new ones from toyota for about £12.50 each
Geo
id replace the gaskets, if you have the cam covers off to paint them, then it takes 5 mins to fit the gaskets to them. and as above you can get them for roughly £10 each. Id also replace the two little breather pipes that go from cam cover to cam cover.
add heywood
You may well need the little grommet on the intake cam cover for the pcv valve, they go rock hard over time and just break when you remove them, abot £6 iirc
