Guest cliogerbil
Hi Guys I have an N/A which had new rear disks and pads last year. The fronts are the same ones as i had when i bought the car a few years ago. There is a strange squeaky/grindy type noise from the passenger side when i turn right round an island etc and sometimes on the straights if the brakes are warm. I thought it was the pads which had worn down but i have had both pairs on the passenger side out, cleaned them with WD40 and slotted them back in. They still have plenty of meat on them yet. It still does it but If i press the brake it goes away. I thought it was coming from the rear but my mate who sat in the front tonight said he thinks its coming from the front. I'm confused Any ideas or anyone had the same problem? Could it be something else like a dodgy CV joint or something? Its strange that it goes when the brakes are pressed. Nic
You cleaned the pads with WD40? Which brakes do you have fitted? http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?249089-Supra-Brake-setups&highlight=brakes
Guest cliogerbil
sorry yes i did. as i figured that was the best plan in case there was any dirt etc on them. they were a bit less responsive for a few minutes but were fine after. I have the 2/1 pot import setup
Scooter
sounds like a possible bearing issue?
Guest cliogerbil
i thought possibly an issue with that...but then it does go away when i brake.

Nic
sorry yes i did. as i figured that was the best plan in case there was any dirt etc on them. they were a bit less responsive for a few minutes but were fine after. I have the 2/1 pot import setup I suggest you take the car to a decent mechanic and get them to check the brakes out, the noise is probably due a sticking caliper/pad. Guest cliogerbil
Add - I don't think there is any plastic guards underneath anymore. I don't think they were there when i bought the car Nic. I have an MOT coming up in about 3 weeks (should be interesting with no cats) but i'm thinking you're probably right. I think i might get the calipers off for the front and back and see what its doing/not doing and give them a bit of a mini refurb. Then if its still doing it then ill have to get a garage to take a look. Thanks for your help guys. I will post when i find out what the solution was.
