edd_t
Morning, Have just realised since fitting a new stereo last week, my boost guage is no longer powering up and the aerial isnt going up! All i did was plug the new one in, so I've unplugged it, but makes no difference. Have checked all fuse's under the hood and they seem fine. Have read there is another fuse box under one of the footwells, is this correct? and if so how do I get to it? Cheers...
Josh42
The fuse box is in the drivers side footwell under the plastic kick panel. You have to remove 1 trim clip(black with centre that pushes in) and then pull the panel off all the way along the door sill. You'll have to get down on your knees and look up behind the dash to see the fuse box....

listy
Drivers side kick panel mate. IIRC it just pops off. Did you plug the aerial wire back into the new stereo? Common thing to be forgotton, as its just a single wire. If its not plugged in, the aerial wont go up. As for the boost guage, where did you run the power from originally? I think most run it from the ignition feed, or the ciggie lighter. If yours is powered by the ciggie lighter, you may have pulled the power feed out when removing the dash panel. Or the vacuum hose into the back of the boost guage may have come out and you havnt reconnected it (easily done, I did the same thing not long ago ) If its none of the above, then fuses. edd_t
the guage was fitted for me. they took out the clock, so can only guess the feed is from the fuse that looks after that (think that may be the dome one under the bonnett) anyway, all fuses seem fine, grrrrrrrrr. (and whoever designed the one under the kick panel should be shot!) i have the 1 aerial cable and yup its going into the back of the stereo, first thing i checked. hmmm. vacuum hose goes intot he control box, this is fine, power seems to go into that too, and a cable from their to the gauge. am trying to following all cables back to make sure all seem connected in correct places but im no electrician! listy
What guage is it? Brand wise?
edd_t
Greddy profec b spec 2 boost controller. with Defi Link 2 controller and a Defi gauge (the ones that turn black when ignition off)
listy
Only thing I can think of is ensure power is getting to the controller, and from the controller to the guage. Ensure none of the wires have come loose, as you have removed the dash, is easily done. If all the wires are where they should be, and power is present, and the vac pipe is all attached as they should be, then I'm at a loss. Not worked with Defi's so not really sure. All I know is that all the sensors for various guages go into specific ports in the back of the controller, and from the controller onto the guages. I *pressume* the boost has a vac pipe rather than a sensor? As the controller has power going to it? If so, then concentrate the effort between the controller and the guage itself. If its just one wire from the controller to the guage, then either there is a break in the wire somewhere, it has become disconnected, or a faulty guage I'd guess without seeing it first hand. letmeshowyou
My vote isn't a fuse Edd; the two boxes that sit on top of the radio cage; pull the orange plugs out and push them back in again. I bet one of the connectors is loose. Failing that, pop me your mob number and I'll give you a call.
edd_t
ok, well I've worked it out, and to tell the truth am pretty p'd off! the power for the controller and defi link has been spliced into the old iso connector for the old radio! rather than into the cars actual wiring or loom! so ive put the new stereo in with new iso connector, which removes the power to the old iso! i guess my options are to try and buy a new radio to fit the old iso connector, it was an 11 year old sony in there before, so dont know if the sony radios will still have the same connector??? or, i get someone to wire it in properly! it p's me off because i paid around £4k for the engine and boost work from a pretty major trader on this forum, and to find that they wire stuff into an iso connector is quite surprising!!!
