Changing front bumper to Jack Knight bumper. Tips please

Hey, does anyone have any tips on removing a front bumper or is it fairly straightforward? I've bought a Jack Knight funky body kit bumper that I want to put on the car, but I want to trial fit it first before I get it painted as I'm not sure about the quality!

Does anyone else have a Jack Knight bumper? My bodywork guy isn't too impressed with the quality of this one, although the rear wing I've got from them is fine....

Cheers, any advice gratefully received!

Front bumper is easy.

Behind the inner arch on the front, there are two bolts. Undo and remove these on both sides. I find the forward one much easier to get to if you remove the lights first. (1 bolt top near the centre of the car, and two near the wing on the side of the light).

Remove the rubber strip at the front of the bonnet, and there are 5 screws underneath it.

You may have to undo the undertray from the bumper too if one is present.

Then the bumper should just lift off :)

Have you got any pics of the bumper? Not heard of one of those before.

So it's not a Jack Knight bumper, rather a Knight Racing bumper, which is why all the Minis crop up on the internet search - I got mixed up with the Jack Knight gearboxes that we used to put in Minis! I'm not stooopid, just confused :search:

Thanks for all your replies, I've decided not to put it on the car, as my body work guy is not sure how well it'll fit, despite Knight Racing's insistence that it will be fine. I don't want to end up with a project shitter now do I??

It does look quite cool though - anyone want to buy it off me? ;)

Trail bumper fella, same one on my car from knight racer, rubbish fit but after work it looks awesome.

That's what I'm worried about... How much work? Any pics of it on your car? It certainly does look awesome off the car anyway!

I've got a rear spoiler from Knight Racing that fitted fine so I don't have a problem with their stuff, just don't fancy the time and money prepping and painting it (it's got lots of pinholes etc).

Just got back from Santa Pod and saw a lot of cracked and scraped front bumpers - what with all the speed humps around my area, I think I'll just get my standard bumper repainted :)

Thanks for all your advice though, maybe I'll do something with it one day... Maybe stick it on my bike ;)
