DaveR
I tried to get some in-car boost videos this afternoon, seeing as I wasn't working for the day, but sadly a combination of some or all of the following conspired to not make it work: 1. Uber-busy roads 2. Inappropriate camera 3. Incorrect mounting point 4. Batteries not at full capacity in said inappropriate camera 5. Too many red lights 6. Driver trying to make excuses... I could go on. Basically: FAIL! Must try harder next time...

Fitz
One thing I found works well for me doing in car vids recently is using my iPhone 5. I have a suction phone holder where the phone sits into, turn the phone landscape and viola! Give it a try with a mobile (should you have one with a decent camera)

But if it helps, I haven't necessarily got the money to have done any of this, just a "[insert own expletive] it" attitude towards what little I do have!! Yes, i did that too all summer and am now paying the price!! lol Something for the future for sure! How does the set up feel response wise compared to a TT? Any issues with lag? Sooooooo tempted
DaveR
Worth it though, eh?! This setup isn't AS responsive as BPU in that the latter provides at least some boost from around 1800rpm. However, the B362 comes on boost about 800 - 1000 rpm sooner than the second turbo did when I was running BPU and of course it's MUCH more powerful and gives a bigger "shove in the back", so there're pros and cons. Basically, I'm finding I have to stir the gear lever a bit more when I'm cruising (for argument's sake on a motorway) if I want a sudden increase in performance in order to get the turbo on song, but if I'm engaging in any *ahem* "spirited" driving and keep the revs up the responsiveness is equal to or better than what it was AND amplified by an extra 50% rwhp. I think that all makes sense...

I know you probably wont say but estimated how much would this cost us guys to give a supra the same kinda treatment (going single)

Good call! I can't attend the dyno day sadly due to work. I'd have been able to go if it'd been the 25th that was chosen for the date but the 11th is a no go, I'm afraid. I am going to try to make the next Bluewater meet though...

DaveR
So... During my single turbo conversion, the outlet breather pipe for my oil catch tank was left to just sort of hang down into the recesses of the engine bay, not plumbed back into the air intake as convention would dictate. This made it a vent-to-atmosphere unit which, I think I'm right in saying, is technically an MOT fail... I decided this would not stand and to do something about it. I looked first for a replacement 45-degree elbow for my inlet pipe with a take-off already welded in, but couldn't find a 4" one anywhere. The next best thing, I reasoned, was to buy a silicone connector (which I found most reasonably priced courtesy of Auto Silicone Hoses) and one of those self sealing push-fit take-offs from Viper Performance. The parts both arrived this morning: ...So I got to work. First was the job of measuring the base of the take-off, which turned out to be 28mm. I rounded up to 30mm and measured / marked the section of the 4" inlet pipe - just above where the K&N filter is mounted - to remove: A round of getting to use my disc cutter ( ) later followed by a liberal amount of filing / sanding and a clean up with some white spirit and my 30mm section of pipe was removed. I also drilled progressively larger holes into the dead centre of my new silicone connector until I had one large enough to fit the take-off (13mm turned out to be the magic number). This part wasn't quite as simple as Viper Performance would have you believe, but with a lot of wiggling, even more swearing - - and a bit of perseverence, I had it fitted in the end. All the parts were now ready to go in: I'll admit it's not exactly the straighest cut in the world that I managed to achieve to remove the section of inlet pipe, but it will serve its function and you'll never tell once everything's bolted back together... With the filter offered up the whole assembly looked like this: And offered up to the car (sans jubilee clips at this stage) and with the breather pipes from the catch tank cut to the right length, the whole lot looked like this: Simple as that! Once I was happy with the fitment, I got the jubilee clips out and started screwing (ohh er... ): Much neater, I hope you'll agree.
DaveR
Before anyone says anything, re-spraying all the plastic parts that are currently covered in some rather flakey blue paint is next on the list. In fact the paint cans are warming in my living room as I type! Also, while the inlet was off earlier, I took a pic of my turbo fins. Gotta love turbo fins!!! DaveR
Having been advised that actually my plan (and execution, of course...) of plumbing the catch tank breather back into the turbo intake pipe wasn't actually the best idea in the world for several reasons, I decided to rectify the rectification... So... Rather than just put everything back to exactly how it was, I simply re-routed the catch tank breather hose to where it was before deep in the recesses of the engine bay and then fitted a small filter (once again from the good folks at Auto Silicone Hoses) to the take-off port in my intake pipe. This way, if I do happen to get an MOT tester who knows what he's looking at when he pops my bonnet (again, it has been pointed out to me just how unlikely that is...), it's simply a case of fiddling with a couple of screws to make him happy. For now, the additional mini filter looks a bit quirky, but quite smart at the same time I think! All in, an ingenious solution to a problem that should never have existed in the first place! And before anyone points it out: YES, I do realise the irony (or stupidity, if you prefer...) of paying a specialist company many many thousands of pounds to do a job and then deciding afterwards that I know best... In other news, I got around to spraying all my tatty-looking engine bay plastics too (air 'snorkel,' fuse box covers, newly-cut spark plug cover and radiator brackets), so my (partly...) refreshed engine bay looks like this: (Excuse the pic: iPhone... ) She's still a work-in-progress but we're definitely getting there! DaveR
I went and took some photos in the grounds of the Royal Military Academy yesterday, too. iPhone again, sadly (lesson learnt...) but quite picturesque nonetheless I think:
