ellis
Small problem just developing - mainly from cold until the car is warmed through but when I apply throttle, nothing happens, hesitation, then after a few seconds it all kicks back in with a bit of a bump. I can put my foot down and I get nothing at all - quite strange. Seems to go away when warm but acceleration is definitely down on what it was at all times - just not reactive at all - seems sluggish and out of sorts. Exhaust note seems to have changed too. I've got it booked in for Monday for diagnostics but I know some of you guys have extreme knowledge of all things so I'm after thoughts and ideas before I drop her off Monday. She needs an oil service anyway but this problem reared it's head before I went on holiday and is still here 10 days later. Thoughts? Swampy442
Idle control valve?
ellis
Its a real possibility that one - it had crossed my mind.
ellis
Error code is coming up as Lambda Sensor. Hopefully that's that sorted then!
mwilkinson
As Swampy says I would clean the idle valve too just to be sure. Someone had a second hand, low milage, lambda up for sale recently which might be worth a look. Think it was toquicktostop. Geo did a "how to" thread on cleaning the idle valve if it helps. Nodalmighty
Sounds more like the TPS to me .You are not getting acceleration enrichment relative to a clean Throttle Delta. Lyndon.
SteveR
Could it be a blocked injector, poor/no spark - something along those lines where one of more cylinders aren't getting the fuel they expect, so the ECU is trying to sort it (via what it sees at the O2 sensor, which will be misleading if it's an inconsistent fault i.e. the cylinders aren't behaving equally) and as a result is bu66ering up the fuelling and/or timing and/or throttle position - any and all of which could cause what you're seeing, AIUI. ellis
I'll see about getting all these bits checked out - sensor on order just in case.
tomgeer
Mine did this, replaced the O2 sensor and was fine again, take it out and stick it in a lemon over night, if you've got a compressor blow the crap out of it then refit it. If it idles nicely its the O2 sensor
listy
Mine keeps doing this too. Tried to find the o2 sensor using the manual, but its like a picture of a maze to me lol
ellis
Top end near the manifold mate - left hand side. Just the one to find.
listy
will check it when I get it back from the body shop.
SPG
Had this issue too by your description, and it turned out to be the O2 sensor
ellis
Just got her back - seems to be cured. The voltage on the old O2 sensor was all over the place plus there was a crack in it and it was 'blowing' - that will have done it! Nice quick, cheap(ish) fix. listy
Where did you get the o2 sensor from Ellis?
ellis
From one of the suppliers from a link in an old thread I found. I could have found cheaper but needed it next day so was happy to pay a few quid more. It was a Denso one, 4 wire.
