Hi All,

I'm new to the forum, this is my first post [COOL][/COOL]

I have owned my Supra Twin Turbo for around 4 months. I was traveling down to Exeter and while at traffic lights I noticed lots of smoke coming from under the bonnet; after further inspection it looked like the smoke was coming from the back of the turbo, close to the firewall. I now have no tubro in terms of power :-( My boost guage is showing normal boost behaviour and I can hear the turbo spining up very clearly, all normal however my power at all, just as if I have no turbos at all.

I think the turbo's have never worked correctly. I could never feel power in turbo 1 only when up to 3-4 grand when the second turbo came online.

Just to add, my gearbox was diagnosed as dead, as my reverse has stopped working and in P and N the car acted as if D is selected. A gearbox speclist diagnosed it as dead. I'm currrently looking on eBay to try and find a replecement.

I'm thinking my turbos are gone, however before I open my wallet wide I just wanted your advise if possible.

Thanks in advance for your time in reading my rant [GRIN][/GRIN]

Cheers

Robbie

Thanks Kaan, when I try to access I get "you do not have permission to access this page"

Ah! Basicaly you need to pay up a small fee of £10 to access all the behind the scenes goodies on this forum :) But the link I sent you leads to a guy called David P (a transmission god on the forum!) and he can rebuild your box to take as much power as you need for a price you cant afford not too!

A few questions:

Does the turbo still smoke now?

Does it smoke on idle?

What colour is the smoke - black, blueish, white?

Do you get no boost until 4000rpm or is it a case of no boost at all now?

What's the fuel economy like?

Is it a UK-spec or Jap-spec Supra?

That's your starter for ten :)

Thanks Ian. Please see below my answers to your questions.

Does the turbo still smoke now? - No, its not smoking at all now.

Does it smoke on idle? - No as above.

What colour is the smoke - black, blueish, white? - When I start her up, I see white smoke for around 10 seconds. When I noticed it under the bonnet, it was black smoke coming from the turbo near the firewall.

Do you get no boost until 4000rpm or is it a case of no boost at all now? - the boost gauge seems to be boosting normal, however there is ZERO increase in speed etc. (all mouth and no action)

What's the fuel economy like? - Poor. Recently it was decreased quite considerably. Around 30% less MPG for circa 6 weeks. Does this point to something?

Is it a UK-spec or Jap-spec Supra? - Its a Jap-spec.

Any help would be much appreciated

PMed back

As I said I bet ur torque converter/gearbox is goosed and the smoke was prob from the bell housing as something shat itself! I put a bet on it that the engine is fine.

U know the box Is less than optimal so replace it with another torque converter. Fix the obvious problem first, don't over complicate it :)
