Geo
So be ordering some Oil and Filters over the weekend, and was wondering about the Filtration on the filters. Now i used to use the stock, then i moved onto the Lexus V8 filter, as these are bigger, holds more oil, and has better internals. see links below Toyota/ Lexus Oil Filters - Stock 08922-02011 vs Lexus V8 90915-20004 Size comparison on filters Now the Lexus filter 90915-20004 is now been superceded with part number 90915-YZZJ4 which i've not yet tried. And should in theory be the same size as the old filter, i'll report back on this once i install my new one. Looking for peoples thoughts on the Oil Filters folks? what you have used, price, size etc etc. Thanks
Dnk
I've used OE oil filters on my supras for 15 years +, over 150,000 miles and had no issues engine wise. Think i paid under £10 for the last one Edited September 22, 2012 by Dnk (see edit history)
Westy
I have a batch of stock toyota ones mate...think I paid £12 each!? Interested to see what comes of your investigation though!
Rob_Mitchell
I got a Greddy oil filter on mine. To be honest they are pretty much all the same, if you buy from a motorfactor you will prob get a blueprint oil filter which is basically OE Standard and blueprint is japanese too. Toyota will be exactly the same as blueprint but £10 more lol.
Suprab1
Mahle filter as that's what filters we use at work.
safcdixon
Ive got a KnN oil filter mine, basically because it looks pretty, think it was £14 from revolution in gateshead
Swampy442
As per Dunc, stock filter for me. Its 11 quid, Toyota spec it for the 2JZ, Im happy with that
Chris Wilson
I would use any branded oil filter on any of my engines, whatever was available in the correct cross reference. My Skyline engine, which cost a bomb to build, has had Fram, Purolator, OE and Crossley filters on it over the years. Same with air filter elements and fuel filters. Fizzy T
I agree to sticking with the OE filters, It's never been a problem in the past and although I first bought the better ones there's really no difference.
Samurai 20V
TRD on mine, can't see any difference to the OEM, but it looks pretty!
Dr_Doom
I have a K&N one on mine for the main reason that there's a nut attached to the end which makes it really easy to get off. Plus it's a reputable company. Pretty cheap off eBay too http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/K-N-KN-OIL-FILTER-fits-TOYOTA-SUPRA-3-0-1986-1998-HP-1002-/130600075987?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e685f02d3#ht_1309wt_1303
manny
As above, been using K&N as they are nice and easy to change, and Paul W does them at a good price.
Kirk
I use nothing but Mahle filters unless there out of stock then I'll use MANN filters.
Paul Whiffin
I have KN filters in stock, used them for years on all our race engines and I'd recommend Motul Sport engine oil, all in stock. Ta

Fizzy T
K&N nut on the end sounds like a brilliant and simple idea but I really enjoy the manliness of hammering a screwdriver through something that annoys me.

The nut is a great idea if you know how to fit an oil filter properly. The 1.4 vw/seat engine has this & nearly every one i get in for a service it has been way over tightened & just brakes the bolt of anyway. This leading to alot of swearing & name calling lol. The last one i had i had to put a oil filter vice grip type with a long bar attached to remove it, this was after snapping 2 filter straps. Dazzi
Blue print. £2.50 odd, never had any problems and used them for years. I do tend to change my oil every 3000-5000 miles.
